Looking at Oppa Park Sihoo-ssi’s recent longish hairstyle, I can’t help thinking about the other time when he spotted long hair. And much longer hair at that.
It was the time when he was filming “The Princess Man”. And talking about the nostalgic past of “The Princess Man”, I just had to dig up my collection of paraphernalia of this drama and share some of its goodies.
One of these is “The Princess Man” DVD featuring Oppa Park Sihoo-ssi’s after thoughts about his role and his experience.
Today and the next couple of days, I will pick interesting bits and pieces to share, so bear with me as some parts might appear disjointed. After all they are titbits! Enjoy, yah.
I love Kim Seungyu aka Park Sihoo-ssi! Don’t you?

So what has “The Princess Man” been like for actor Park Sihoo?
It has often been said that the effect of a historical drama would turn out better than expected. (Nance: I guess it did! Look how dashing Park Sihoo-ssi’s Kim Seungyu turned out – whether the scholarly, carefree man or the avenging angel!)
Best of all, he grew many fans. And he is happy his fan base became more diversified, from the young to grandmother fans.
Since before “The Princess Man”, he has done his fair share of good dramas but “The Princess Man” was particularly tough, draining him both physically and emotionally. Regardless, it was an unforgettable piece of work for him. He thought he was stuck in a black hole filming it and it was rather difficult and took him a while to snap out of his character Kim Seungyu.
Even after a week and even as he had moved on to do other things like going to Bali, Indonesia for a photo shoot, he could still distinctively remember Lee Seryung, the love of his character Kim Seungyu in the drama.
While he was in Bali and sorting through the photos he had taken while on the set of “The Princess Man”, he unexpectedly uncovered a photo of the last scene. It was a photo of Kim Seungyu and Lee Seryung and they looked really close.
As the character Kim Seungyu, he had to present many different sides. The naïve, young scholar Tarjonam, to the perfect Korean gentleman Wanjonam to the dark avenging Seungyu.
What does Kim Seungyu and Park Sihoo have in common?
There are probably many aspects of Sihoo hidden in Seungyu. Park Sihoo said he had tried to put in a lot of himself in his portrayal of Kim Seungyu rather than making it purely acting. That put a more natural spin to his character, especially at the beginning when he was the gentle and carefree Seungyu. You can’t really tell if Seungyu is Sihoo or vice versa!
Are the actions in the drama difficult?
Park Sihoo had experience filming action scenes in his previous drama “Iljimae” and that helped alot. He was rather worried earlier as he didn’t practice much at the action school and wondered if he would perform well.
He said that it turned out better than he had expected and he came across as being physically fit. The staff later joking asked him if he was an Energizer (Nance: as in Energizer battery) who wouldn’t get tired (Laugh) and what he ate to improve his strength. In fact, to him, the action scenes were difficult, but physically not so painful. The historical drama seems to suit his constitution.
