Follow in our Oppa’s foodsteps: Vietnam
Follow the wheel tracks, those of Park Sihoo-ssi’s that is!
Easier said than done, mind you! We have been trying to find this restaurant that our favorite actor went to in Vietnam but couldn’t, even when we arrived in Ho Chi Minh City. We had almost given up when by sheer luck, it popped up on Liliane’s phone when she was searching for places within the vicinity of our hotel!
Yes! We found it! We found the wheel tracks that brought us to the 7th floor rooftop terrace restaurant at….the Saigon Grill!
Exactly like the photo Park Sihoo-ssi posted on his Instagram, there was that one wheel and the most breathtaking view of Ho Chi Minh City. The skyline became especially brilliant when the sky grows dark as the few key skyscrapers the city boasts of light up in the night. Being trigger happy like our man, we took many shots.
The restaurant offers an extensive menu. Food, food, food and booze, booze, booze! As Park Sihoo-ssi had no recommendation on food, we ordered what we fancied and Vietnamese dishes were it!
The traditional prawn and papaya, mung bean sprouts, mint and sweet basil leaves salad, with its tangy, sweet and spicy hot dressing, topped with crispy fried shallots was absolutely sensational. All our senses came alive as the flavours of sweet, sour, salty, spicy and bitter burst into our mouths with every bite!
The stir fried baby squids looked great in the photo in the menu, but turned out an anticlimax. Too few squids in an overwhelmingly vegetable laden dish. Vegetables with baby squids would have made it more palatable!
And the last dish we had was the crab and seafood soup. This was a thick soup with small bits of crab meat, some seafood and egg flower. The taste was not too bad, much like those we have back home in Hong Kong and Singapore at wedding banquets.
And Liliane absolutely loved her fresh coconut drink served in its original shell. She even tried a small bottle of Vietnamese beer, Bia Saigon Special! Me? I was content with my bottle of cold mineral water, a respite from the heat! Cheers!
Oh, one thing about Saigon Grill…we think this place just might be Korean owned, or partly, as the crowd was mainly Koreans. Korean men primarily, possibly hanging out after a working week and spending a Friday night out bonding!
Have 한극어Hanguel will get you around! Maybe that’s the reason why this restaurant came under Oppa Park Sihoo-ssi’s radar? Remember, Oppa, have English will travel, K!

Thank you for sharing in English
@angel.cpy Your are welcome…and why in English? Because I only know English and some Chinese Kekeke!
In sync again Nance, we both had the wheely thing today at the same time
Yes, we are in sync…I thought so too when I saw your photos of the two wheels in your house and your writing on the cycle of 60 🙂 Happy birthday again!
Thanks! Really interesting. I have intended to use the wheel photos as my fresh start of next cycle today, when the photos were taken I already had that idea in my mind.
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing Nance!
