Notice how stereotypical Korean dramas can be? Tried and tested storylines, themes, filming sets, costumes and even some of the actions and scenes? They make you wonder if Korean TV stations generate these dramas from a production line in a drama mill!
Worst, sometimes, there is an overrun of the same theme at the same time, that you just can’t get away from more of the same every channel you flip. Remember the time travel theme at one stage? Then more recently there is a whole gamut of dramas surrounding split personalities! Maybe, after years of generating massive volumes of the good, the bad and the ugly dramas, the Korean drama industry is heading in for a rut?
One thing hasn’t changed though – a traditional “must “, kind of like a “check-the-box” for any Korean drama. The obligatory piggyback scene. The male lead has to carry the female lead on his back somewhere in a Korean drama to make it whole!
Piggyback is something very Asian in nature, I believe. Our grandmothers, mothers and their mothers before them piggybacked their children in one form or another. Mine did with a makeshift cloth tied across her back, sarong style. No mean feat, if you have to carry the weight of a child on your back over an extended period. You will tire out in no time.
Park Sihoo-ssi performed this obligatory gesture in his dramas. He piggybacked his female co-stars in “Family Honor”, “Prosecutor Princess”, “Queen of Reversal” and “Cheongdamdong Alice”. Carrying a child is one thing. Carrying a full grown adult female can be back breaking, especially if you have to do multiple retakes. And when you don’t have the strength for it, you can collapse from sheer exhaustion!
Luckily, our Park Sihoo-ssi is not only well built, he is also strong. I have seen him effortless lift up and swing quite a few not so pint sized women on stage.
So piggybacking his scrawny female co-stars? Piece of cake!

妳可发觉到,韩国电视剧可以非常铅板吗?有时离不开之前成功用过的故事情节,主题,拍摄布景,服装,甚至一些动作和场景?有时候会觉得韩国电视台就像工厂,生产线上用同一个模型制作出一部部韩剧!
最糟糕的是,有时候,同时间可以播出同样主题的韩剧,翻转电视播道,还是逃脱不了类似主题的连戏剧!记得,有一段时间,最流行的主题就是时间倒流旅行吗?最近,就有好几部韩剧是以人格分裂为主题!也许,经过多年海量一般,有好的,坏的和丑陋的电视剧制作,韩国电视剧行业正在朝着一辙?
有一个剧情始终没有改变过,似乎是一个传统的韩剧必须有的一项。就是背驮的场景。男主角背着女主角的场景一定会在剧中的某处出现,才会使剧情完整完善!
我相信,背驮是一个非常亚洲的性质。我们的祖母,母亲和之前她们的母亲,经常用不同背驮的形式来带自己的孩子。我妈就是用一条纱笼布,临时搭建成布带背着我。背驮是不容易的事,孩子的体重在妳的背上一段时期,妳将会很累很幸苦的。
施厚君在他演过的剧中,也有背驮的情景。他在“家门的荣光”,“检察官公主”,“逆转女王”和“清潭洞爱丽丝”里,都要背着他的女主角。背孩子是一回事。背一个成年的女性,特别是需要重拍好几遍这个场景,是好幸苦的。而当你不具体力的话,你可能会过于疲惫崩溃!
幸运的是,我们的施厚君不仅体型良好,他也很强壮。我曾经见过他在舞台上,毫不费力的抬起和旋转着身材不怎么娇小的女性。
所以要他背上消瘦的女演员,对他来说,完全不费力气,不是一回事!
