Episode 20 has finished in Korea. I need the English translation for full understanding, but I feel like mourning now. Ji An who tried her best to minimize feelings of hurt for everyone, is being despised in return and I am really amazed she is still alive and didn’t attempt to suicide. She had the courage to call Ji Soo who slapped her before she could even say a word. Looks like sweet and understanding Ji Soo has disappeared. If so, it’s only a matter of time before she will join the Choi family….Chapeau for writer So and PD Kim. They get me fully into “My Golden Life”. So much I wish I could solve everything for Ji An. Just hope Do Kyung’s eyes will be opened and he doesn’t accept the rules of his parents anymore. They trample everyone who is in their way…
Seo Jisu is seeing things with different lens now. She saw how her bringing-up parents cares so dearly for Seo Jian and felt that this was because she is their real daughter. Even last night, when the unthinkable happened and two daughters were missing, she found her father desperately trying to get in touch with Jian but not with her. Her mother was waiting outside but she could be waiting for either of them. Worst, her mother sold her out, sending Jian in place of her. Even when she probed previously, her mother kept the truth from her. The sister she loved and trusted has also known but never told her…maybe she was trying to take her place? Understandable that this vulnerable girl who has been so sheltered and loved find that she is not top priority…so maybe this is why she flared?
This could well be the case. After all, Ji Soo doesn’t know why Ji An did things the way she did. At least, she should hear Ji An out, but this is not the strongest point of a Choi family member. She also doesn’t know father Seo was trying to go after her the moment she ran away
Having watched episodes 19 and 20, I really cannot blame how Jisu has reacted, albeit most people bet that at least she should have listened to Jian before she slapped. The very act by Father Choi to charge in the Seo’s house, this in rage Father Choi’s behaviour is the cause of such chain reaction from Jisu. The cool calculative mind of Father Choi disappeared suddenly and he acted without any thought. He should have, on top of everything, thought about how will such confrontation impact his most beloved daughter. No matter how wrong the Seo parents have been, and high chance his own flesh and blood daughter hasn’t known the truth, why would you go do such impulsive confrontation, anyone would have instantly thought of how would this daughter feel when the truth is revealed in such ugly and stormy confrontation, but this cool face man totally lost the plot. Jisu’s world was thrown off this planet by the scene and words in front of her eyes like a huge lightning striked on her. Writer So is very logical and consistent to present how human emotion and mind would work when it comes to situation like Jisu. Because of the truth that came out to her in such manner, it’s very logical Jisu felt like the whole world has treated her like a total fool, when she is the very real Eunseok. If Jian’s “father Choi” could come to her house to do that, that means Jian definitely knows, no doubt about that. Because she has always been the sweetest one and kindest to all, she felt because of her own weakness of easily believing in what others said, therefore it is best not to listen for what these people have to say because what she just witnessed is completely opposite to all the things she believes in, prior to this. Salute to writer So in such twist, in my philosophy I call it karma, the Father Choi who so did that confrontation that led to Jisu’s change which later is the Chois family to stomach the behaviour from Jisu. How satisfying is such karma replay to viewers. And this the reason MGL continues to score viewers’ support and viewers’ thumbs up.
Viewers like ourselves we are privy to things the roles in the drama do not know. The weight of scenes play out in front of us the heaviest on our mind is how Jian is coping carrying that huge burden and trying to deliver her best so that damage of Mother Seo’s lie can be minimised. Hence, when we saw Jisu’s slapped Jian, our heart popped up to our mouth so to speak. But if we pause one second, Jisu’s slap isn’t out of Jisu’s character either. She has always been a girl with actions from reactions stem from her own reasoning. The moment she saw CDK’s messages on Jian’s phone, she formed her interpretation and acted straight away. And the part when she went absolutely upset with Jian’s decision of going to Choi, Jisu has never shied from showing Jian her anger. Jisu wears her emotions on her sleeve. Clever script writer and director know of such momentum and built up, and ensured every weekend finale ends on high note. If we recount every weekend by end of Sunday, how the last scene was delivered, I simply salute MGL’s mastering of such human psychology.
There was this thought in my head while walking that one thing writer So so narrowly escaped and not being microscopically examined and analysed is the thing about 2nd DNA test. What I meant is after mother Seo screamed out Jian is the one, from there on, not a slightest mention of 2nd DNA throughout for many episodes. I would like to have seen at least some mentioning of 2nd DNA test in the days leading up to Jian leaving Seo house, to put mother Seo in more nervousness and uncertainty of if her cunning scheme could fully pull through. As it is now revealed, Father Choi knows where the main fault lies, as he blamed his wife as the main cause of this total mess, for not doing the 2nd DNA. Yes Mother Choi’s explanation is she never thought of in a split second mother Seo could fool her when mother Choi thought she pinned mother Seo to the wall in a situation that 99.9999% chance people got to tell the truth under that circumstances. Writer So thought she could pull this through as logical for mother Choi to just accept the words. I find this logic of the script a little hard fully accepted. Because put any mother especially the rich and powerful where they have more to loose, even if mother Seo told me Jisu is my lost daughter, I would have gone for 2nd DNA. Especially mother Choi started her conversation with mother Seo that if you don’t tell me which one, I will go DNA. If mother Choi is as fully as what her character is, after being told Jian is the one, leaves the house there and then, but afterwards, there should be some mention and action of 2nd DNA, I want to see some mention to put the nerves of mother Seo more on edge, and I want writer So to deliver something clever in the nick of time 2nd DNA test wasn’t done or that it was done but still manipulated by mother Seo by swapping the wrong sample etc so that we can have the story of poor Jian as Eunseok in Chois. Then only to this critical viewer like me, then only such script is more logical in the real world.
Hahaha! We are alike in thought here. I asked the same question. Father Choi accused his normally cautious wife of not doing a second DNA test to check and he is doing the same thing jumping to conclusion that Jisu is the one just by one look of Father Seo! No DNA test on Jisu at all! Worst than his wife! What if Jisu is not their daughter? Then it would be two lives ruined!
Maybe there’s another twist down the track. Even in early days my mind straight away keep thinking about this one big thing anyone would do in the real world
Nance we can look forward to a scene mother Choi can retaliate her hb that his even worse just one look by father Seo abd that is his daughter
Well i supposed father Choi reasoning would be by elimination since 1st DNA report from 2 girls sample taken from their house. Now one is eliminated so the other one got to be it. But then in the real world it may not necessarily be the case
