Okay, our spinning wheel landed us back in July 2009. This was at the time when Park Sihoo-ssi made his second visit to Japan and after the airing of his first starring drama “Family Honor”. A newbie star he was, there to promote his drama which was on air in Japan then. He did a series of interviews as part of “The petite Park Sihoo Festival”.
Below are some of the interesting questions that this newbie star was asked and which our Oppa responded to. Little snippets of gems for us to get to know more of our Oppa, if we don’t already know. Interesting! Do you think the newbie then has changed over the years? Maybe, maybe not.
On Japan visit
Interviewer: This is your second visit to Japan. Where would you like to go?
PSH: I want to go to a hot spring. I like hot springs. Otherwise, maybe to the seaside. How is the summer weather in Japan?
Interviewer: It is rainy season now, but it cleared up when Park Sihoo-ssi came.
PSH: (Laugh). How long will the rainy season be?
Interviewer: It looks like it will continue, but …
PSH: Then I think it would be better to leave the seaside behind for now. (Laugh)
Park Sihoo compared to Lee Kangsuk of “Family Honor”
Interviewer: Lee Kangsuk in “Family’s Honor” has a strong image at first. He honestly expressed love when he met someone he cared about. Will Park Sihoo-ssi actively approach someone he likes?
PSH: Initially, I can’t be too proactive. I am like Lee Kangsuk in the second half, when he got to know and became closer to the person. I am quite shy, so it will take a long time for me to open up.
Interviewer: The drama also featured a romance leading to marriage, Do you have an ideal marriage in mind?
PSH: I am not thinking about marriage yet. I am working hard right now, so I can’t think of it yet.
Personality and hobbies
Interviewer: What kind of boy were you when you were a kid?
PSH: I was a quiet kid. I was not very noticeable and was just an ordinary boy.
Interviewer: Aren’t you good at sports?
PSH: I liked training to build up my abdominal muscles rather than ball games or other sport where people gathered together.
Interviewer: I hear that you like baseball?
PSH: I love baseball. My brother was a baseball player and I used to play some baseball.
Interviewer: What was your position?
PSH: Pitcher. I used to play catch with my younger brother once in a while.
Diet and favorite food
Interviewer: You said that your hobby is strength and abdominal training. How do you manage your diet and what do you eat?
PSH: Once I have confirmed a drama, I will manage myself for weeks (Nance: before the filming) with intake of protein-centered food such as chicken breast and vegetables.
Interviewer: Do you manage this yourself or with the help of your mother?
PSH: My mother will do it. If I ask her to prepare it like that, she will prepare accordingly. She is a wonderful mother.
Interviewer: Do you cook ?
PSH: When I was living alone, I did the cooking myself. Now that I live with my mother and I am too busy to cook, my mother will take care of it for me.
Interviewer: What kind of food do you cook?
PSH: Kimchi Jjigae (Kimchi Stew)! (Laugh). It is pretty delicious (Laugh). I make it myself and while eating it, I would say “Good!” (Laugh). Then it is gratin. I can also make gratin.
Interviewer: Do you make it from scratch?
PSH: Yes, I make it from scratch. I will make it with bell peppers and cheese.
Interviewer: What is your favorite dish from your mother’s cooking?
PSH: I love her Kimchi Jjigae (Laugh)
Interviewer: Does she put anything special in it?
PSH: My mother’s Kimchi Jjigae has butter in it. This gives it a softer texture and makes it tastier. (Laugh)
Love for interior decoration
Interviewer: I heard that you are interested in interior decoration and that you created a small garden in your living room?
PSH: Because I don’t go out much and usually rest at home, I created a garden not only in the living room but also in my room. I have foliage plants in my room.
Interviewer: What is your room like?
PSH: The room has a romantic feel at night with the lights turned on. I like that kind of atmosphere. They are lights that turn on automatically when it gets dark.
(Note: During his fan meeting at that time, Park Sihoo-ssi showed a video of his small living room garden. The mood of Park Sihoo-ssi’s room with the lighting looked beautiful.)
Interviewer’s conclusion
Interviewer: Until I met Park Sihoo, I had the image of a taciturn and quiet man. A man who is bashful about what he say about himself. He is an attractive man who dazzles others with his gentle smile. I wonder what his next project will be like? I am anticipating.
