l love my sweets, or rather I used to love my sweets and to sink my hands into making them. But for the last five or more years, I have avoided all sweets, ready to eat or making from scratch!
Recently, to give Park Sihoo-ssi, Buyeo’s Ambassador of chestnuts a boost in promoting this produce from his hometown, we made group buys of these delectable sweet treats. So many orders we made! Now that these all natural, no sugar added sweet treats have arrived, what do we do?
Eat them of course! Since they are cooked and ready to eat, just pop them into your mouth and savor its sweet pure flavour with every bite. If you have bought more than you can chew, like me, give them away as gifts or better still, whip up some tempting treats using them as ingredients! These cooked Buyeo chestnuts will save you a whole load of effort in having to wash, cook and peel!
Here are some ideas to get you going!
Add them to your salad like I did to my cucumber and tuna mix. Make the traditional Chinese rice dumplings with them or use them as one of the ingredients for your fried rice! Or add them to your refreshing ice shavings, iced drinks and desserts like the local chendol and bobo chacha for a more solid bite! Good ideas?
If you are more adventurous and love to bake, how about whipping up a chestnut chiffon cake filled with chestnut bits and layered with delectable chestnut cream? A perennial yummy favorite in Hong Kong and other parts of Asia! Try out the recipe in the video below.
Or make chestnut butter like you do peanut butter and spread this goodness on your bread and biscuits! Good option when you want a break from the same old, same old!
Am I getting you into the momentum of thinking new recipe ideas using sweet chestnuts? Buyeo’s sweet chestnuts being the choice as recommended by our favorite man, Ambassador of Buyeo chestnuts!
Let the chef in you take flight! Maybe the next time, you could be offering our Buyeo Ambassador a taste of your sweet chestnut treats! Go experiment!

Nance you are simply marvelous with all the chestnuts recipes and ideas. Bravo! My top favourite got to be the traditional glutinous rice dumpling with chestnuts. Your chestnut cucumber tuna salad is indeed a very good idea. Enjoy! PSH should be very pleased that his fans went out of their way to help his ambassador duty. Well Done!
