A lot of people say “Don’t sweat small stuff”. To me, it is good to have a macro view especially when you have reached a certain level of seniority both at work and in life. However, the small stuff can actually tell a lot and can make things more interesting and give you deeper perspectives.
Take Park Sihoo-ssi, it is great to watch him in action whether in a drama or movie or during an event. The overall experience will be a good experience. However, if you just watch his small gestures, you will find more depth to his character, whether in reel or real life.
I love watching his small gestures as they say so much about him. During his recent birthday celebration in Buyeo, his little gestures gave away a lot about him as a person.
We were greeted by a supersized Park Sihoo costumed character on arrival at his ancestral home. Who would even think that behind the costume, it just might be the man himself? Being his typical playful self, ever ready for some mischief and to tease his fans, there just might be a chance that he was in that costume 🙂 Was he alluding to it with his just released short video thanking his fans for being at his birthday party? Watch and tell me what you think!
During the evening main event, he had so many little gestures that endeared him even more in my eyes.
The seating for the evening event was theatre style but unfortunately, the seats were not elevated, so those at the back of the room could hardly see what was happening on stage. Me? I was very lucky…I was in the 2nd last row so he was just a speck of dust from where I sat! Can’t see anything from a distance of at least 20 rows of seats! Yes, the big projection screen was right next to me. But what is the point of watching a screen when you have travelled all that distance to be there in person?
Park Sihoo-ssi realised the problem immediately when they sat him on stage for his first interview. He stood up and gestured for the lady compere to do the same. This way those seated at the back of the room could catch a glimpse of them. And he stood throughout the program! So intuitive and so caring, our man!
Concerned that the proceeding of the event was in Japanese and there was no Chinese translator this time round, he tried to make his Chinese fans feel welcomed using his limited Chinese whenever he could. We loved his accented “我爱你们 I love all of you!” and “好!好!Good! Good!” and more. He must have specially selected the part of his drama “Local Hero” (“Neighborhood Hero”) where he spoke in heavily accented and barely understandable Mandarin. That had his Chinese fans bursting out in laughter!
One of the things I love about him is that he enjoys interacting with his fans off stage while on stage. He would make eye contacts, wave here and there and flash his gorgeous smile on and off. He often got so caught up and not pay attention to the compere. And like a little boy caught off guard by his teacher, you can see the guilt on his face and asking pretty please to repeat the question 🙂
A great actor he is but a really shy guy, particularly when it came to impromptu public actions. He was given envelopes to draw two “missions” to accomplish on stage. Bingo! As luck would have it, he drew the ones for dancing and gwiyomi or what the Koreans called cute gestures. Remember how shy he was to have to do the latter during the press conference for “Cheongdamdong Alice”? Even though I was right at the back of the room, I felt him blushing from head to toe trying to accomplish these missions. Endearingly so 🙂
Then towards the end, as was customary, to the yells of “encore” he obliged and again as was customary, he sang his signature song “Season in the Sun”. He was a little off key in his singing (err…I am being tactful, when in reality, he was way off :)) He knew it and showed that he knew it by shyly flashing his megawatt smile…yes, all was forgiven for sure with that beautiful, heart-melting smile, Park Sihoo-ssi!
And the most endearing? His escape after the event. He must have forgotten how popular he was with his fans. They just won’t let him off so easily when they knew he was still on site in the event ballroom. Not knowing or more likely not paying attention, he thought he could just open the door and walk out. Hello! He had a shock of his life, greeted by his hoard of fans. Quick reaction had him bouncing right back in, where he was closeted for quite a while before he finally managed a quick escape through the back door, using his parents as decoy! Naughty boy!
Small gestures these, but said so much about our Park Sihoo-ssi. I love his spontaneity and cute gestures! Don’t you?

PSH has the talents of acting. He is capable of showing a variety of gestures to make the character vivid. I’ve taken a look at the photos of the supersized PSH from various sources. The supersized PSH shows a variety of small gestures in the photos. I guess our beloved man who is eager to learn plays the role of the supersized PSH.
Priscilla Lee Sure sign of an ardent Park Sihoo-ssi fan 🙂
Nance, this is yet another very spot on well written article! Don’t we all fallen to his grace all because of his cute gestures cute facical expressions even his wave is a signature wave. He has the most varietal of gestures to pull out of his sleeves. A curious question is are there many (or any) of his Korean fans at this party?
Cheongdam-dong Alice!!!!!!!!!!Beautiful dorama!!! Love you, PSH!!!
Maria Quiroga Bustos I like Cheongdamdong Alice too 🙂 It was also another transformation for Park Sihoo-ssi – to the comedic, yet dramatic and emotional side. I love Jean Thierry Cha aka Cha Seungju!
If you ask me about PSH’s spontaneity and cute gestures, he is a magician, in my opinion. Because his spontaneity and cute gestures are seducing his audience, thinking that what is happening on stage is happening in real time. He looks very innocent about what is going to happen next, making him a very exciting actor. His supreme skill is to appear spontaneous, while being very deliberate in everything he does. He is very genuine, because his spontaneity is well worth in counteracting rigidity . His laughter is so spontaneous, and the very essence of his laughter is the unrestrained emotions within us. His personality is a continuous , uninterrupted of successful cute gestures. As you very well describe in your article that you’ve enjoyed so much at his BP, , for whom I thank you Nance .His cute gestures are attractive, effective and valuable. He is so taented , that in a live-action performance, in a one-man show he expresses himself, using his body, his gestures, his facial expressions revealing the magnitude of his talent. If PSH can make his viewer , his spectator laugh, than he can make his spectator think, like and believe in him. And that’s the secret of this great actor. For PSH , acting is a sense of wonder, and magic and mystery! Even his small gestures can have a big impact on his audience. Yes, PSH’s spontaneity and small gestures say so much, and I love him for his marvelous talent!
As usual, you are spot on Stefania Lupu! I love your amazing insights and reading of characters and all your wonderful quotes !
Stefania Lupu, I only discovered your above write-up now. You have explained so well to the tiniest details which I can’t express, all that you’ve written sum up to why viewers like us who never thought we can be a fan and doing fan stuff many people deem we are out of our mind, sum up to the one word, mesmerised by PSH acting. When Genuine and Spontaneous meet with meticulously prepared mental works before action – the results simply stunned viewers like us.
Thanks Chai Hua Loke, as you say , we are mesmerized by this magician , who is Park Sihoo. .
Thanks Nance, Everything I write is for him, and this happens once in my lifetime to be a fan of an artist . PSH deserves my admiration!
