Did you think that I accidentally added a question mark in the headline? Nope, the question mark there is intended, and very much so. There was a storm in the teacup, maybe even bigger, say in a huge soup bowl, when this Park Sihoo-ssi drama was first aired on KBS in Korea.
It was the most contentious Park Sihoo-ssi drama, ever! No one could agree if this golden couple was a perfect match! Even till now.
Yes, I am talking about Park Sihoo-ssi’s “My Golden Life”. His chaebol turned poor church mouse and then rose again Choi Dokyung and Seo Jian.
Perfect match? They are as different as night and day
Gosh, I actually forgot her name! It has been such a long, long time since I last watched the full drama, since two years ago when the drama went off air! I only caught an episode here and there on TV when I happened to be in town and it was being aired. Hahaha! 😄
Yes, this drama will be well remembered for all the different viewpoints that resulted in quarrels among viewers over whether the two should come together as a couple or it would be better for Oppa Choi Dokyung to make a clean break and forget Seo Jian totally. The audience was divided, split at extreme ends, with not many standing at the middle ground. I knew many who abandoned ship and just didn’t want to continue to watch the drama till the end.
So was the leading couple a perfect match? Again, I am sure everyone’s opinion will be different and we may even have arguments. Let us just respect different views, okay?
Unlikely couple
For me, I struggled with writing about this drama. It was a long serial and the duration so long that it sapped my energy thoroughly. The couple’s turbulent relationship that swung left, right and center just didn’t sit well with me. And added to that, those sub-plots, some so boring, draggy and incredulous that seriously, if not for Oppa Park Sihoo-ssi and trying to help build interest for the drama to reach a crescendo at the end, I would not have sat through the full series.
This is so unlike the other Park Sihoo-ssi weekend drama “Family Honor” which was even longer at 54 episodes and yet it caught my interest and sustained it right to the very end. I have watched it over and over again over the years, I would say, no less than 50 times!

Perfect match? My view? No, Choi Dokyung and Seo Jian were way too different – in personality, in outlook and what they wanted in life, for them to be a perfect couple!
I say sorry to those who loved this drama, shipped the two together and even asking for series 2 for my opinion. I just cannot take another series with this relationship. The two have achieved their respective self-actualization and discovery of themselves in life, great! But being together? Unless the actors did not do a good job of conveying the intent of the writer, it would just be too forced for my liking!

啊，我居然忘了她的名字！上一次观看整部电视剧以来，就是从第一次在韩国的播出，已经有整整两年没再观看了！唯有是回家几天，正好在当地电台播出，才偶然看一两集，哈哈哈！ 😂

是的，这部电视剧让好多观众争论，那两位男女主人公究竟应不应该变成一对，偶吧Oppa 崔道京应不应该彻底的抛开和把徐智安给忘掉。 观众的意见非常极端，中立的不多。 我也知道很多人放弃了观看这部电视剧，看到一半就没有继续观看下去了。
那么那对主人公是否是完美的搭配呢？ 像如往，确信每个人的看法都会有所不同，甚至可能会引起争论。 让我们大家尊重不同的观点，好吗？
对我而言，电视剧播出时，我一直努力的为施厚君和电视剧做宣传，写评论等。 因为是长篇电视剧，播出的期间特别长，所以消耗了我好多精力。 他们左右动荡的关系让我感到有点烦，加上一些周边故事，有些非常没趣，无聊的拖长和令人难以置信的情节，如果不是为了偶吧Oppa施厚君，想支持他到最终，我老早就放弃观看了。

这种感觉与另一部施厚君的周末电视剧“家们的荣光”截然不同，该电视剧更长，有54集。这部剧大发我的兴趣，我持续观看到最后都还在渴望有更多集。多年来，我已经观看了一遍又一遍，至少也有50回了，但还是想观看！
“我黄金光辉的人生”的主人公是完美的搭配？ 我的看法？ 我不认为。崔道京和徐智安并非登对，他们的性个，想法和如何看待未来是相反的，所以看不出是完美的搭配，除非是演员表达的跟作家写的有所不同！
对那些喜欢这部电视剧并将两者拉在一起，甚至要求第二季的人，我非常抱歉。两者在人生中实现了各自的自我实现和更了解了自己是非常好的事！ 但是这并非意味他们将会是完美的搭配，我觉得这会太勉强了！
我是否在茶杯中掀起了另一场风暴的争论呢？哈哈哈！ 😄

Nance, I agree with you. Both My friend and I don’t think they are a perfect match. I don’t like the ending especially. But I still loved this drama, because it’s the first time I watched Parksihoossi’s wonderful presentation.
Perfect match I love this couple.. this is the reason why I know Oppa Park Shi Hoo💕 they really match each other they captured the heart of many filipinos.
I believe in love, but sometimes love isn’t enough. The whole universe must be involved so that a love story doesn’t remain just a story.
I believe in love…but when two people don’t have what it takes to go the total distance together, it is better to brake than to still try to be together and suffer heartbreak later or have a nasty separation

Yes they are perfect match ❤️ My Golden Life is the first drama of our Oppa I’ve ever watched again & again. But I don’t really understand the ending, it was that they reunited in Finland?
I rest my case. My pick of perfect match of PSH’s drama is one and only QOR. 2nd like is Let’s Get Married. 3rd in place is Family Honour. I must admit I had only briefly watched Lovely Horribly due to my lack of interest in the ghostly stuff, I could not register much of that drama which I reckon had a lot of PSH fans voted that to the his top best and top best matched couple. The turbulence in MGL goes to show in life every one can use a good jolt to shake up every sleeping cell, be it actor/actress or viewer. That’s how MGL come across to me – a mover shaker kind of drama. They both serve a learning curve to each other (male and female lead role).
Perfect match between them, I think it’s just our desire as a spectators of romantic dramas, in which we want to be everything with a happy ending. But the picture you posted, Nance, in the article, the one in the car, I think captured exactly their image over the years: a couple that makes things go well thanks to the much too patient Dokyeong: a wife always unhappy and a husband with an obvious resigned acceptance on his face. But, it really exist in life such couples and go well.
For her it was the first leading role and we must admire her for the choice she made, to accept this difficult role of Seo Jian (remember that before her, someone else refused). We need to remember Shin Hyesun, especially since today is her birthday.🌹🌹🌹
That image of the car gave us hope…but afterwards, each episode divided the audience, bit by bit. The power of the writer’s pen to create dissonance to boost ratings…not unlike her previous works too.
Park Sihoo-ssi 박시후-씨 朴施厚君 Yes, the scriptwriter is one of the best (and I think not for the rating). Some of the Korean dramas that I watched over the time and that I liked the story line, I found with pleasant surprise that they are written by the same author. We must admire her determination to give the main role in MGL only to Park Sihoo, with whom he had such a successful collaboration in Prosecutor Princess.

Love their partnership. Beautiful story relatable but there are struggles in life relationship so hard to be together much as they want too. Jian Dion’s story touches many heart and will be cherished.
