I don’t like long distance running because I have bad knees. So marathons are out for me. But I have friends who are addicted to marathons. They always talk about when they hit a wall. This is their endurance limit and thereafter, they either have to breakthrough or crash.
In KBS drama “My Golden Life”, we saw how strict the Choi family is, the principles they live by and how hard they drove their children to follow the rules to keep the family reputation squeaky clean. Choi Dokyung, their son and heir apparent to the chaebol family business, seemed to adapt well and takes these in his stride.
His younger sister, Choi Seohyun behaves outwardly like a well brought up high society chaebol daughter. But underneath this, lies a rebellious streak. Every time she hits her wall, her endurance limit, she needs to take a breather, timeout from the suffocating rigidity. Looking at her, it seems like rather often too. Pressure, pressure! The atmosphere in the Choi family can be most suffocating!
The rebellious streak in her will hit at being anti-establishment as an outlet for release. She does the exact opposite of what she has been brought up, much like thumbing her nose at her parents. She will indulge in heavy night clubbing, transforming herself into the notorious dancer, Cinderella. A double life that only her driver knows and whom she pays to keep his mouth shut.
Well, rebellious streak and doing what she has been brought up not to do is going to get her into hot soup! One just can’t keep secrets forever and not get found out!
And horror of horrors to get blackmailed in the process by a conniving and greedy couple in the form of her driver and his wife! The price to pay for having rebellious flings!
How can she extricate herself without her parents finding out and ruining her chances of making a good chaebol marriage? Can she seek help from her brother Choi Dokyung like what Seo Jian has said that he is one who would help others when asked? Or will Seo Jian’s younger brother Seo Jiho be her white knight, but with a price tag of KRW20 million? Doesn’t this amount sound familiar? Hahaha! 😄
Find out on weekend nights on KBS 2 at 1955h!

“The young always have the same problem- how to rebel and conform at tje same time. They have now solved this by defying their parents and copying one another.”[Quintin Cresp]
Choi Seo Hyun is a young nice girl, the daughter of a chaebol family with strict family rules, pretending to respect and conform to them, but being so corseted by these rules she finally breaks them, becoming the rebelious kid of the family. She wants to enjoy life, she needs to breath a healthy fresh air outside her family. she goes to disco, where she tries to release her stress, dancing to unchain from her strict family rules. Poor girl! Her rebelious behaviour will be exploited by her driver , blackmailing her with some compromising photos. Being naive and frightened she has hopes in Jian’s brother, Seo Jiho, that he will help her, not her brother, Do Kyung, who strictly respects his family rules. Will Seo Jiho know how to help her?. That’s what I want to know, waiting for the next episodes these weekend. Some say that the greatest crimes in the world are not commited by people breaking the rules, but by people following them, Is Choi Seo Hyun guilty of a crime breaking her family rules? To become a robot of the Choi family, better break the rules.!Being young, she must be bold enough to live her life on her terms, to laugh in the face of adversity, to dance as everyone is watching her, to stubbornly refuse to fit her strict family rules. Am I right?
