Come visit my refurbished ancestral home, Garden Maehwa
Last Monday, 8 November 2021, our Oppa Park Sihoo-ssi pleasantly surprised us by posting a video on his Instagram. It was a post which he hashtagged #GardenMaehwa.
You might wonder why he would share a photo of an accommodation. But mind you, this is a special place in his heart. This is the traditional hanok house in Buyeo where he grew up in as a child. The house is over a hundred years old from what we read. However, it is now a tiny piece of the original because a fire had gutted most of it.

Our Oppa had his old home refurbished and looking at his video and the postings from Garden Maehwa and Buyeo Sigol 시골 (Countryside) Cafe, he has kept most of the house intact. The original structure has been enhanced and its interior tastefully modernized with no compromise to tradition.
It has taken him many years to get Garden Maehwa to where it is today. I remember he started the project years ago. Was it round about 2015/2016? And each time we visited Buyeo and his ancestral home when we attended one of his events, it always looked like work-in-progress (WIP). Except, it wasn’t progressing! Even back in October 2019 on my last visit to see Bonggu in Buyeo, it was still WIP! And his dad just shrugged his shoulders when asked when it will be completed, saying “Who knows!” Kekeke! 😄

But now, Garden Maehwa is ready and welcoming guests. I can’t wait to visit but I know it will be a while before I can do so, what with coronavirus still a threat. Quarantine-free travel or otherwise, I think I would rather play safe for the sake of everyone.
So for now, I will enjoy the photos that are being shared and our Oppa’s video of his now completed Garden Maehwa and yearn for the day I can finally visit.

梅花园的过去和现在
上周一，2021 年 11 月 8 日，偶吧Oppa施厚君给我们带来了惊喜，在他的Instagram上发布了一段视频。这是他标记为#GardenMaehwa 的贴子。
大家可能想知道他为什么要分享一段住宿的视频。其实，这地方在他心目中占了特殊的位置。这是他儿时成长的扶余的传统韩屋，是他的祖籍的老屋。从读到的内容，知道这所房子已经有一百多年的历史了。然而，它现在的状况只有原屋的一小部份，因为一场大火烧毁了屋子的大部份。

偶吧Oppa把老房翻新了。看着他的视频，梅花园和扶余乡村시골咖啡厅的贴子，他将房子的大部份完好的保留住，把原有的结构加强，其内部的装饰是高雅和现代，不妥协于传统。
他花了很多年才把梅花园美化变成今天的样子。我记得他好几年前就开始了这个工程。大约是在 2015/2016 年左右，如果记对的话？每次去参加他的活动，并参观扶余和他的祖屋，总是看起来像装修正在进行中（WIP）的状态。但，没看到进展啊！甚至在2019 年10月，我最后一次去扶余拜访朋谷时，房子仍然是 WIP！问他的父亲什么时候会装修好，他只是耸了耸肩，说“谁晓得呢！” 哈哈哈！ 😄

但现在，梅花园的美华已完成，并迎接了客人。我也期待去参观和住宿，但觉得还需要一段时间才能这么做，因为冠状病毒仍然是威胁。虽然已经可以有无隔离旅行，但为了大家的健康和安全起见，还是迟点好些。
所以现在，只能欣赏被分享的梅花园和偶吧Oppa房屋翻新后的视频，并渴望有机会参观的那一天。
