Some of you sisters might have caught my posts in Instagram and Facebook last weekend. I made dumplings or Zongzi
It has been over a decade since I made them but seeing the ingredients and materials for making dumplings sold everywhere in Singapore, I was inspired to take on this backbreaking task. Added to this, now that I am home, I know when I make them, there will be mouths that will eat them! Kekeke! 😄
Today is the actual day of the Dumpling Festival. “Happy Dumpling Festival” to all our sisters at ParkSihooSsi.com who celebrate this occasion.
This day is in remembrance of Qu Yuan, a much loved minister and poet from China’s Chu dynasty (340–278 BC). He advocated reformation and cared deeply for the people, angering the King who banished him. When Chu fell into enemy hands, Qu Yuan committed suicide by drowning himself in the Mi Luo River.
The people who loved him threw steamed rice wrapped in reed leaves into the river to keep the fish from eating his body. Since then, this tradition has been celebrated yearly, though made much more commercialized and many young people no longer remember its beginnings.
“Happy Dumpling Festival”!
We celebrate the occasion with our Hoo Family…and I am sure even though he is Korean, our Oppa Park Sihoo-ssi will send his regards to his Chinese fans. Every scrumptious dumpling is filled with love and care, particularly during these unprecedented times.

祝所有在ParkSihooSsi.com 庆祝这个节日的姐妹们“端午节快乐”!
