CELEBRATING THE 6TH ANNIVERSARY OF PARK SIHOO-SSI’S “CHEONGDAMDONG ALICE”!
庆祝施厚君的“清谭洞爱丽丝”第6周年!
I think most of us were bowled over by how well a comedian Park Sihoo-ssi made in his role as Philip Yu in KBS drama “Lovely Horribly 러블리 호러블리”. He was really amazing wasn’t he? His ability to so seamlessly move from his usual chaebol roles into the comedic side. The transition was particularly obvious with the very intense Choi Dokyung in “My Golden Life” into the lighter Philip Yu in “Lovely Horribly 러블리 호러블리”.
If you remember Park Sihoo-ssi’s very first transformation to take on a more comedic role was actually six years ago. He surprised everyone with his Jean Thierry Cha (“JTC”) or Cha Seungjo. Of course there were inklings of his comedic ability already during the days of “Queen of Reversals” as Goo-Goo Goo Yongsik.
JTC tickled our funny bones with his post-traumatic stress disorder (“PTSD”). Being betrayed by his father and the woman he loved previously, he had massive and exaggerated insecurities that made us laugh and yet made us cry at the same time. His quest for revenge by petty actions, his uncertainties about being in love, his inability to have any emotion like crying…Park Sihoo-ssi excelled.
Unbelievable that it has been six years since “Cheongdamdong Alice” when we first saw Park Sihoo-ssi’s comedic ability! Aren’t we glad he discovered this side of himself!
Happy anniversary JTC!

Love this feed😍
He is indeed an all rounder actor as many of us know. To date, my top vote of his comedic scene has to be his disguised room service in Macau hotel in Neighbourhood Hero where he spoke some Mandarin with a straight face reporting about commotion taking place at the hotel floor, plus his top class secret agent swift fighting actions which are no lesser than any of the 007 Bond actions. I love to see his that scene over and over his pretense of an ignorant hotel room service waiter but gees so swift in his kicks and his fights swirling around that trolley table. We all know his swift and nimble actions scenes are most captivating example the shoe lace scene etc but the one that has the biggest comedian impact together with action scene, to me, is that Macau hotel room service scene. Not because he spoke some Mandarin, all because of that straight face in that midst of tensed up air in the hotel room while his female secret agent was trying to work her way into the target but facing imminent danger. In that moment my heart was beating with high suspense, next charged in this straight face top class secret agent boss and broke the enemy’s rhythm of having the upper hand dangerously hovering the lady in the room.
To say I was surprised that he could be so comedic in his role as Jean Thierry Cha in CDDA is really an understatement! Having just finished watching The Princess Man where his character Kim Seungyu transformed from care free to a dark and tense revenger, I was quick to associate his acting capability as suited for melodrama. So I was quite transfixed at the same time utterly delighted with the opening episodes of CDDA when scene after scene he dished out his goofy and punchy comedic acts as JTC. And he succeeded in sustaining this funny side of him throughout the rest of the 16 episodes to keep viewers attentive and interested to the end. He was truly stunning as JTC – who else could have delivered the role better than him? Following from that its easy to come to the conclusion he is indeed a talented Actor of the highest order. And its easy to understand why those viewers with a keen eye in identifying who are the good artists around, will find it worthwhile to follow him and his works. He truly delivers. Everytime. In dramas and movies of any genre….
❤️😘
“Comedy is simply a funny way of being serious.;”Peter Ustinov] . Park Si Hoo’s first purpose of his comedy is to make people laugh, but he makes them also think about relevant issues. Park Si Hoo’s comedy is surprises, Park SI Hoo’s comedy is a kind of explosion, and whether he acts, whether he hosts a show, when he hears his audience laughing , in that moment he is sharing the exact same experience, the exact same feeling. That’s why I love this comedic side of Park SI Hoo, his sense of humor. Park SI Hoo gives us a shot of euphoria, that distracts us from everything that’s awful. And I advise you to rewatch him in “Cheongdamdong Alice”, to enjoy his comedic side in Jean Thierry Cha/Cha Seungjo, for his hilarious performance , where he showed off another side of his gorgeous talent .And for the 6th anniversary of “CDDA” my congratulations!
Stefania Lupu yes, I have rewatched this classy yet rib tickling drama quite a few times. Always make a satisfying watch.
Six years are also for me since I first saw CDDA (yes, I saw CDDA in 2012-2013) and at every anniversary I remember with delight the feeling of great surprise I had when I saw Park Si Hoo in a role from the modern world and with a pronounced and authentic comic side of the character, after the romantic and tragic Kim Seung Yoo (February 6, 2012: first episode of TPM was broadcasted in Romania). My admiration and interest for him were already won by KSJ, and Cha Seung Jo – that CEO with such an atypical personality for Kdramas – came like a sunny day of spring to strengthen my opinion that I met a complete actor, which will occupy my mind and heart day by day.
Daniela Maria Miricescu we are like minded kindred spirit. Absolutely true – when you have met a complete actor, you know you have found a gem, which you will not let go. 🤗😊🤗
His comedic antics in CDDA really can tickle my funny bones everytime I watch this marvellous drama! Love much CDDA , especially Jean Thierry Cha aka Cha Seungjo! ❤️❤️
