A brand new year has just started in 2023. Happy New Year again to our Oppa Park Sihoo-ssi and to all our sisters around the world at ParkSihooSsi.com!
As we have always asked ourselves, what will the new year bring?
I may sound cynical and less than enthusiastic for once. But from the perspective of ParkSihooSsi.com, and if last year were any indication, I am of the view that it will be a challenging year.
As this website is dedicated to and about Park Sihoo-ssi, the content is very much dependent on what our favorite actor does and share. When he is riding high filming new works or his dramas go on air, the website simply hums. There is more to write and talk about.
The reverse is also true. Working on the content for this website isn’t easy when that happens. I have to rack my brain and kill many brain cells just to write anything. The well is dry. With almost eight years of running ParkSihooSsi.com, I think I have written practically everything there is to tell and already repeating myself. It will be so easy to just walk away. But of course I didn’t and that is why the website is still up and running.
During the two intensive covid years of 2020-2021, no doubt our lives were filled with fear and uncertainty, but our Oppa was working. He filmed his historical drama “Wind, Cloud and Rain” (“Kingmaker: Change of Destiny”) in 2020 and it also went on air in the same year.
In 2021, he shot his yet to be released Korean remake of the successful American crime beat series “The Mentalist”. The filming seemed to be rather hush, hush and our Oppa seldom posted anything on his social media. Nevertheless, we still got glimpses of what were happening and we lived in hope that shortly, the drama would go on air. It was a wrap by end of 2021.
2022 came and is gone now. “The Mentalist” has not been released after a year of wrap. And Oppa has no new project in sight. That made two whole years of blank slate for him, albeit he held two Japanese fan meetings and a CF or advertisement for Miracell.
So what is in the horizon for 2023?
Challenges ahead, in my view. Likely a challenging year with lots of headwinds.
We hope he will do whatever he likes and be happy. But if he wants to continue to be in the entertainment business, the most important and crucial thing is having a continuous flow of work. Everything else – fan meetings, CFs, brand ambassadorship or endorsements are but peripherals. They will dry up when an actor is out of sight and out of mind.
And this is quite evident with Park Sihoo fans too, even among the most loyal. Fans will come and go no doubt but when nothing is forthcoming, they go much faster. Unfortunately, this is the reality in life.
So come 2023, a new year, what will it bring, you ask? In the past, I have been most enthusiastic and articulated dreams and visions. This brand new year? The blank slate has been too long and it is too difficult to see what is in the horizon.
The world has changed so much it it totally unrecognizable and has become so irrational. The good old days of a global economy, leveraging on economies of scale and each country’s strengths to build a better world no longer exist. In its stead are economic and physical wars, driven by greed, biasness, arrogance and lack of and no desire for mutual understanding and compromise.
It is a world of strong arming of “you are either with us or against us”, no in between. And it is a scary world where sales and purchases of military equipment take priority over the interests and welfare of people. And many people have no qualms to openly incite conflicts and push for World War III!
All of these don’t make the entertainment industry any easier. It is in the line of cross-fire and subject to the same mindset as those of the world at large. Worse, economic woes with high inflation, high costs, disrupted supplies of goods and energy, their impact on factory production and jobs…so many things that occupy higher priorities in people’s minds. Entertainment is probably least on their minds, different from the past where it provided a pressure release.
So what to look forward to in 2023 where Park Sihoo-ssi is concerned? Challenging it will be and no doubt about it. But we live in perpetual hope!
Hopefully, HBO Max would straighten out its issues and release the already completed drama “The Mentalist”. Better still, our Oppa has good casting offers and that he will soon confirm a new project and it goes on air in the early part of 2023? As is the reality, too long a blank slate doesn’t improve one’s visibility among those who matter or make things any better.
And we hope the world would really learn to live with Covid, stop all politicking and countries open up their doors wide with no restrictions. That peace lovers and negotiators will win over warmongers. The economies of the world must not lose focus on making it a better place and put down arms, be they military, economic or social. Let the world be at peace.
This is the way to make life normal again and for us to luxuriate in the enjoyment of what the good life has to offer. Allow us once again be able to enjoy and get satisfaction from watching K-dramas, including those of our Oppa Park Sihoo-ssi’s.
Let’s hope and pray! Happy 2023!

there u go again.. another complaining, would you please just stop complain and criticize him? he’s get enough hate comments and bully from his haters, he doesn’t need to get constant critic from his fans as well. He probably enjoy live his life as a normal person now, away from public attention and eye. Accept it if he decide to left the entertainment business. You can’t force him if he doesn’t want to continue his acting career or accept another drama project.
You should read thoroughly what I wrote and understand where I come from. Just like you are entitled to your opinion, I am entitled to mine. I never mince my words or sugar coat things like some people do. I say what I think is the reality, face it head on and continue to support him with real, solid actions!
Complain? Criticize? I seldom do, only on appropriate occasions and when I think there is a need. Of course I, and I am sure his fans, will accept his decision if he wants to get out of the industry or chose not to work. Neither of which he said to any effect, in fact he said the exact reverse recently.
And if you don’t like what I write or don’t want to face reality, don’t read what I write.
Or better still, challenge yourself and put into real action your support for him. No point just criticizing others “verbally” or in writing on their views and not show your support with actions, right? Go ahead and give him at least eight years of your life every day to make sure he continues to be top of mind in support and that no one, including complainers like me, dare to criticize or complain about him. Will be great for someone else to take the lead with fresh views, unerring love and support and get more followers for him.
Oh, and why hide behind different names when you write – you should stand by your view with your real self right? Sean, XX, whoever you are.
Agree with Nance’s analysis of the world situations and its possible impact on Sihoossi’s acting career. There are no complaints in Nance’s words but deep concern and best regards to Sihoosi’s acting in 2023. Nance has said out what I think about our favorite actor Parksihoossi not only his new drama and project but also his possible future. Because we love him and his dramas so much.
Many thanks for taking time to comment and sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated
