Foodie Park Sihoo made me crave for sugar and spice!
This foodie has a food craving, even though I am not even remotely hungry! It was brought on when I was searching the web for photos of Park Sihoo-ssi for my post! Seeing how foodie Park Sihoo-ssi relished his food, my stomach began to rumble!
I want sugar and spice and all things nice! Hmmm…! 맛 있네요!
Spice? My taste buds tend towards the spicy aromatics of the South East Asia kind. Lemongrass, blue ginger, yellow ginger, tamarind, kaffir lime leaves, pandan leaves, coriander roots. My kind of spices. Unfortunately I can’t stomach too much of the heavier Indian spices like cardamon, cinnamon, cloves, cumin, nutmeg, mace, saffron etc!
Sweet and spicy Tteokbokki! Yummilicious!
But right now, my craving is for the Korean yummilious sugar and spice!
The spicy rice cake dish with its sweet, spicy sauce, tteokbokki 떡볶이! The ones from the Korean roadside stalls always taste the best! And as the day progresses and the stall owners stir fry and top up more tteokbokki and their special blended sauces in their huge tteokbokki pans while serving their customers, the more flavourful and yummy the tteokbokki become! My mouth waters just thinking about it! How I wish I were in Seoul this very minute! I need a sweet and spicy tteokbokki fix!
Park Sihoo-ssi personally frying the sugar dough…I will have a taste, please!
Even though I am not into sweets, looking at Park Sihoo-ssi about to tuck in to a big bite of that fried, doughy local eat, topped with a gooey, sugary chocolate syrup, my craving has been ignited. But I qualify. I want a bite of this sugar dough only if fried by Park Sihoo-ssi!
Hey, I remember that day! He made his escape from Seoul to Suwon just as I was Seoul searching to deliver his 38th birthday gift to his office earlier in the year! His staff was most apologetic that his big boss was not in the office to receive his gift…not that I was expecting him to be, of course!
Yums! Sugar and spice, nice! Time to make another trip to Seoul soon to satisfy my sugar and spice cravings!

吃货的我，又想吃了，虽然完全不饿！都怪施厚君啦！ 当我在网上找他的照片来补充我正在写的文章时，看到那吃货津津有味，大口张开着就要咬上美食，弄得我也流口水，也想着吃了！
糖和香料，一切美味美好的食品！嗯…好吃！맛 있네요!
Can I have a bite, please?
香料？我的口味偏向东南亚那种辣芳烃。香茅，蓝姜，黄姜，罗望子，青柠叶，香兰叶，香菜根。这些是我所喜欢的香料。但不能忍受较重的印度香料如豆蔻，桂皮，丁香，小茴香，肉豆蔻，藏红花等！
但现在渴望的是韩国美味的糖和香料食品！辣炒年糕떡볶이！哦，它那甜辣酱味！韩国路边摊的那些味道总是最好的！而在一天内，摊主们一边照顾客户，一边在他们专制的炒年糕锅里添加他们自制秘方辣酱和年糕，一边炒着，越炒越入味！想着我的口水都快流出了！真希望现在就在首尔，能够满足我的辣炒年糕渴望！
You are making me drool with craving!
虽然已经不再吃甜食，但看着施厚君大口就要咬下那糊淋淋巧克力糖浆的炸面团，也被他感染了。但是要声明。我只想吃施厚君炸的糖面团！
还记得，今年年初时，我一早抵达首尔就到处去安排他的38岁生日礼物，送到他办公室时，他放了我鸽子，已从首尔去了水原吃糖面团去了！他的员工深深抱歉说老板那天往外出不在办公室不能亲自收下他的生日礼物…其实我没有期待他会在啊！:)
哇！糖和香料，真美味！是不是该再去一趟首尔，满足我的糖和香料的渴望呢？

The author, today’s topic, the most obvious sense of taste, miss Shi Houjun rhythm! Food driven, the driving force of the work, more efforts to the state! Healthy food, it is what kind of taste, satisfy our taste buds, is the best! South Korea’s roadside stalls, signs of culture, food taste first, to attract the eye, and more is the atmosphere, random life picture! Chinese language: can eat to sleep, the greatest blessing! So, every friend, must strive to be a good person! The greatest degree of memory left on the tongue!
Love to have some of his Korean sweets for my afternoon tea right this very moment! Yummmmm…..nevertheless the most yummy thing I ate today is my sweet memory of learning PSH’s name at 2.01pm today last year!

I hope you’ll celebrate the moment with something sweet. 떢복기 (tteokbokki), 불고기 (Korean BBQ), 비빔밥 (bibimbap), 김치 (kimchi), 양념통닭 (Marinated fried chicken)…I love the spicy food. Except for bibimbap and kimchi I’ve made them all. Well, I’ve made cucumber kimchi and radish kimchi. It’s a bit difficult to buy the right ingredients where I live. However, in 3 weeks I can eat all the Korean food I would like for two whole weeks. Yum, yum, I’m looking forward to it already! 😀
You lucky Wilma, as I remember well you’ve mentioned that you’d make a trip to South Korea. Am I right? So in 3 weeks time , if I’m right, you’ll make your dream come true. Not only to eat K. dishes you like, but maybe to meet PSH at his “Hoo Factory” head quartes.. And probably you’ll find out if he has a new project , we expect so much for him to announce us. Enjoy the trip, and have a well deserved meeting with PSH, as a reward for your permanent support of him on your blog, for learning even Korean to be able to speek to him, and for making your trip from Netherland, a far Europen country, to such a far away Asian country., Korea.I’m waiting your trip impressions from Korea. Stefania Lupu Thanks Stefania. Yes, you’re right. I am leaving in 3 weeks from now. This trip is one of my dreams to come true. It would be nice if I would meet with PSH, but I leave it open to faith. 😀 HOO Factory didn’t mention their new office address yet. My Korean is not that good though. As with every language I have learned, my writing and reading is much better than hearing and speaking. I have bought a book “Survival Korean”. It’s very practical. When I read through it, I think: “Well, I understand and should know it, but when I need it out of the blue I may not remember”. I am going to enjoy this trip anyway. Take my camcorder and digicamera with me. I will share my impressions, but don’t expect too much of it! Mon voyage sera bon! Merci beaucoup Stefania! 🙂
Wilma van Zwietering Time flies! I remember you telling me about your coming trip to Korea and it is now only 3 weeks away! I am sure you will love it, especially as you have been so immersed in the language and the culture, and definitely Park Sihoo-ssi! Hopefully you will get to meet him after putting so much hard work for him and being a long time fan! All the very best and you MUST share with us your trip and whatever encounters! Wilma, a friend of mine, Rumanian jurnalist established in Canada, has made a wonderful trip to Seoul in spring, to visit her Rumanian and Korean friends. She was mesmarized by the beauty of the country, by friendly Koreans and she said that she would like to remain there. She send many photos of the places she visited, that we enjoyed very ,much , and one day before she left, her Korean friends offered her an unforgettable visit in Seoul, being accompanied by the OST, “Again I love you today”, from The Princess’Man. She said that she would go again to visit other places in Korea. I hope this will happen to you too.

Nance, I suppose I should share here about my impossible being made possible (fingers crossed from this moment to 9/9 my dog stays as stable as he is). Yes Ladies, I am going to Miyazaki to meet PSH!!! Much THANKS to Nance in getting me onto the trip where closing date was July. I made a decision this Monday 22/8/16 morning given my own circumstances and saw a sliver of window of opportunity and acted on it with very positive thinking that how I saw it in my gut should turn out as how I envisioned. It is one of those moments that after Nance signed myself up (most importantly accepted by organiser), booked tickets etc (tricky connecting flights etc, after all I live here in a far away country corner), my body and mind float afterwards asking myself ‘WHAT HAVE YOU DONE??”” I almost gave up and changed my mind by midnight with all the negatives what ifs and filled with guilt, yes I was physically shaking with guilt and pessimistic feelings. However the next morning my dog and my husband both gave me reassurances that 11/9 Miyazaki trip is doable. So here I go……Stefania Lupu, Wilma, Anita, YungBin, and the rest of you our regular supporters of Nance’s page, I will be there experiencing for myself the PSH’s magic spell come 11/9.
Wilma, i just googled, you will travel 8,551km to explore your interests of S Korea as aroused by PSH. I will travel 7,425km to Miyazaki just for the one moment in time, to meet him arm’s length. Of course the sisterhood time together with Nance and new friends who I am eager to meet are the added bonus. Nevertheless, you can say that my 7,425km journey is solely one agenda, as I am not a sea or outdoor sports person. The tropical heat and humidity does not gel with me, I am too accustomed to living in one of the driest region in Australia with big land mass and cold that chill the bone. Tropical heat and humidity will give me headache. I wish to be back home immediately for my dog once PSH’s event is over. Crazy enough I guess.
Haha P/s because there is no direct flight to Miyazaki, I actually will travel 8,856 km via HK plus needed to stay in HK one night for both connecting flights.

Chai Hua Loke That’s great news Chai Hua! 🙂 I recognize your feeling after you had made your decision. I had the same when I had booked my flight for Seoul! No way I could cancel anyway. My friend from Kumamoto is coming over for a long weekend to meet up with each other! You have so much to look forward to. Don’t drown in PSH’s eyes! 🙂
Chai Hua Loke According to my ticket flying from Amsterdam to Seoul vice versa is 7.614 miles = 12.253545216 kilometers. And this is a direct flight. Uh, that is really far away from my home! Hope the weather conditions will be optimal for you! 🙂
Wilma van Zwietering Your friend from Kumamoto Kyushu Japan is going to Seoul to meet you? That’s interesting, while Nance myself and some ladies heading to Kyushu island Miyazaki in 2 weeks time.
Wilma van Zwietering Google only gave me the direct distance Amsterdam to Seoul one way is 8.5k Km. Of course the air traffic is busy your flight will need to manouvre the airspace.
Chai Hua Loke It’s just coincidence and my friend is not PSH’s fan, although she has watched TPM. I asked her for Miyazaki. She said it’s beautiful, but somewhat deserted. So PSH and you ladies have all space to enjoy together. 😄
Wilma van Zwietering The Miyazaki PSH event attraction is “”deserted”” hahaha. Wilma have you met PSH in person before?
To me the once in a life time thing a PSH fan can hope for is the one to one photo with him, which he did in Oct 15 the Gimjie event. I don’t reckon that offer will ever get repeated. This Miyazaki event of deserted place to me is the next best thing for a fan like me who is eager to meet him in person. Because I will never be as lucky as Nance to have his handshake by chance at an airport crowd. The best bet is seeing him on stage singing or dancing, for that, does not really give me strong enough motivation to fly that long and spend that many days away from my own plate of things that needed my attention.
Chai Hua Loke – yes you have done all your assessment/ evaluation …. Miyazaki the best opportunity to stay under the same roof as our hero, get to sniff sniff, touch his hand and capture beautiful amazing unforgettable sunset sunbeam pics with him at the beach. All things thought impossible can be possible!!

Dorothy Ooi Dorothy, yes as you remember the aim is sniff sniff. So have to be an event that everyone gets either a handshake or a high 5, not just some lucky few. Now I am thinking hard, how many seconds each fan get for one to one high 5, if only allowed 2 seconds each to do one high 5, then how to sniff????

Oh Wilma van Zwietering you haven’t met him in person yet? Should aim to do it once at least, I reckon.. Oh your distance is less than I googled, that’s less travel suffering then. I hate long journey flights, not much joy to be stuck on air for long haul. In fact I no longer like travelling nowadays having tasted this heavenly abode in this far corner of the world where even the Queen and Prince came pass my house. Elton John’s helicopter flew pass my backyard and I could hear him sing sitting in my backyard. Here my living everything can be done in 5 minutes, no parking ticket, no traffic jam, all essential living needs and amenities available within 5 to 10 km radius, life is so simple, so travelling no longer attracts me. So this 8,000 over Km one way and no sleep on plane long journey is really a torture for me.

No Dorothy Ooi wouldn’t want to slap our Dearest man at all. Would never want to. Cantonese “ng ser tak”. Nance if his ears or eyes responding to people talking him I suppose his ears and eyes would moved like a monkey can’t stop coz many people talking about him all the time
Chai Hua Loke It will be a 10+ hours flight anyway. I’m leaving halfway my timezone evening from Schiphol and arriving halfway afternoon KT at Incheon. Hope to sleep some. Even if it’s a dog-sleep! 🙂 I have still many, many things on my wish list. Of course, PSH is top priority. So maybe even face-to-face will be a reality one day. I may even bump into him this holiday. Unless he will stay at Japan during that time. I will leave my logical mind at home and trust on my intuition. Let’s see where my footsteps will lead me to! 🙂

Well Wilma van Zwietering everyone every word has been used to describe him but to date no one shares what he smells like so I have to employ my master nose just like how we sniff out the wines, to find out for myself

I like the enthusiasm with which PSH invite us to eat. It seems to be delicious.
I started being interested in Korean cuisine and even try to cook in a similar way.
Today I saw on the Korean channel SBS, a documentary about how to cook tteokbokki. I knew it it’s a very spicy dish, but what I saw there, made me believe that I could not ever eat. It is not very spicy, but extremely spicy.
Wlima, be very careful! No matter how prepared you are, taste with prudence however. And also, have a dream journey.
