I remember this photo. It was taken on location in Macau when Park Sihoo-ssi was there to film his new drama “Neighborhood Hero. It was taken on Saturday, 24 October 2015, in a remote location.
I will also remember this as a very long day. I believe Park Sihoo-ssi started filming as early as 7 am in the morning and ended the day well after midnight. Going by what others have posted on the world wide wide, there must have been maybe five location shoots on that day alone! So he was all over Macau! It must have been a most exhausting day!
Like Park Sihoo-ssi, we started that day early. We heard wind of a shoot in the morning at a church somewhere in Macau. So, Macau is small, but then not that small when you try to find one church among the many it has! We narrowed down our search to the most probable, and with the most densely populated churches around the St. Augustine’s Square. We took a morning walk to all the churches around the area, but no luck!
So we ended up having breakfast and then reconvening to meet some other fans over the famous Margaret’s Cafe e Nata egg tarts 🙂 Then we went walking some more, shopping for cookies at Lisboa Hotel and ended up having a cuppa tea there.
Ok, half a cup of barely touched tea! Someone found the next location shoot so we left in a hurry! Yes, it was at that elusive church which we have been looking for all morning! Finally, up on the Penha hilltop to the Penha Church with its panoramic view of Macau. So we made it to our first shoot of the day! We saw our gorgeous Park Sihoo-ssi in gear, kept him company and kept ourselves entertained throughout his shoot – more than a couple of hours, mind you!
Then, as he took off for the next location and we got into a wild goose chase. Six ladies and our driver, we lost him and the crew going down the hill. And with our growling tummies, we abandoned search and headed for a late lunch at Coloane Village. This time, we were on the trail of the famous baked pork knuckle at Cafe Nga Tim and maybe to get a taste of the other famous egg tart – Lord Stow’s. So off to the beach we went!
Lo and behold, as we drove by Lord Stow, we spotted the crew! What luck! They were stopping for lunch too! So happily we chowed down our scrumptious lunch of pork knuckle, stewed clams, baked sardines with cheese, pork chop buns and fried cod fish in batter.
Then, our driver rushed in, “They are leaving! Hurry!” By the time we settled our bill and got into our car, we could only spot the tail of the last of their cars disappearing round the corner.
Our brave driver followed but we lost them! Several false twists and turns later including a dead end in a grave yard, an 8-point U-turn and then we hit home at the bend of a remote beach road! A location, which according to the friendly drivers of the cast and crew, where even the Macanese don’t know of! So where exactly were we?
So remote was the location, there was hardly any passer-by in sight. Bad phone and data reception. Totally un-contactable!
What to do, what to do? It was only them and us! So embarrassing! It will be all eyes on us if we got off the car! Close the blinds! Blush! Blush! Yikes!
Our driver laughed! “You ladies! So funny! You want to follow a star and yet you are so embarrassed!” “Okie, okie, since we are here already, we might as well be brave!” So out we crawled from our car, one step at a time.
But where was our Park Sihoo-ssi? No sight or sound of him for the shoot!
Ah, at the far end of the beach, behind the low lying bushes and trees in the dim light. We could barely make out his silhouette. But being true fans, we know him so well, even with his back to us! He was out there feeding the mosquitoes looking out for fresh, foreign blood to the amusement of the drivers! Poor Park Sihoo-ssi. That was where he stayed, for more than a couple of hours, far from the maddening crowd! No shoot for him that afternoon!
By the time the shoot ended, it was dinner time and since we already knew the location for the night filming, we headed back to the hotel for some much needed rest. And of course, to catch up with the avalanche of left messages which we could not receive due to poor phone reception! Obviously everyone was upset at missing the afternoon filming! So sorry! Our hearts were willing but our modern technologies were weak!
Rested, we took off for the night shoot – another place of worship except that it was a temple this time! Interesting the set for the shoot and more interesting Park Sihoo-ssi’s outfit and make-up! Shhh…my lips are sealed! This was the shoot with well over 20 retakes. If I were exhausted and called it a night before it hit mid-night, can you imagine how totally zonked Park Sihoo-ssi was, filming all day and all night long!
Yes, it was a day I will remember well.
And oh, did I remember to reveal where that first photo was taken? Shot when they wrapped up the afternoon shoot. It was at the bend along the remote beach road of Estrada Aldeia 乡村马路, past come graveyard and where they had some luxurious homes being built! Happy hunting!

Awesome. Even today we continued with vibrant life as I have only the beginning of a good day We hope you have a good time.
Thinking of the past moments, of the day of 24 October 2015 when you went to Macau to watch PSH in action, shooting his drama, these moments give you a great pleasure.. And recollecting the pleasures you have had formerly, you renew them, enjoy them a second time, laugh at the remebrance of the funny things that happened on that day. Your whole adventure there , the way you recount it, has made us enjoy it as well and at the same time learn more about a very exhausting job, shooting a movie or a drama. And I pity PSH that on the one hand he was chased by his fans , who wanted to see him , live, shooting his drama, being at the same time courteous and amiable seeing them on the shooting site, and on the other hand foccusing on his role for a good shooting, although sometimes he had over 20 retakes, for only one scene. And he did it with his entire consientiousness, as we know him. And I think George Eliot’s words suit him very well;” Conscientious people are apt to see their duty in that which is the most painful course.” I’m sure you’ll remember that memorable day in Macau, “Chasing a Star”, while he was shooting his drama. And we accompanied you too, reading your narration on that memorable day. Thank you!
Echoing Stefania’s gratitude of your excellent account and detailed sharing Nance! Also big thanks to Stefania for taking time and efforts in expressing the exact feeling and benefit on behalf of all of us who been following and reading Nance’s page. Keep your sharing coming Nance they have now become my daily bath : the must do thing -much needed and refreshing!
And I applause your “Conscientious people are apt to see their duty in that which is the most painful course.” This explains how heavy PSH was upon arrival at Macau airport. Imagine this is his comeback on TV drama after a long break regardless of how good you are in your field, how nervous and anxious deep inside him at those moments. He could do with all the space and time for himself to focus and mental preparation into his role, yet he was amiable and friendly to the crowd of fans albeit a little bit distance. True statement of conscientious people with deep commitment to his chosen path. I am sure 20 retakes is not the record of a hard to be satisfied scene, he probably has done more than 20 retakes before (just guessing). To be expert you keep repeating til you get it a little more right each time til you reach excellence. The end result of PSH’s acting that wow us fans is the result of these hard works there is no doubt about that.
Dear Chai Hua Loke, Nance , and me, and you, and all his fans are very much impressed by PSH’s determination , hard work, dedication commitment, unrelenting pursuit in achieving his goals. To attain the success he is looking for and he deserves. And all of us know that he, who is swimming against the tides of hardships he meets everyday, needs only a bit of praise and encouragement from us. And that’s what we do everyday here, Nance and you and me, praising him for his endeavor in giving the max of himself to reach to the top level. And we do it from our heart!
So well said, I cannot agree more, ladies! We all love him and will be here giving the support and encouragement he needs and he will be there giving us the pure enjoyment of watching his drama and in being him!
Now I am watching QOReversals several front episodes I missed in my 1st viewing. 1st viewing only caught eye on PSH when he sat aside wearing a smirk on his face while his PA handles redundancy .Now watching rerun I realised I missed quite a fair bit of PSH fantastic scenes especially his very 1st encounter with the female lead in the lift after he overheard gossips about the female lead. Of course most of all now only I see his very 1st appearance on his bike. I thought he looks far more attractive in hus bike scene in QOR than the bike scene in PP. ??
