Does she have good intentions where our man is concerned?
This will surely be a controversial piece with many different views…this one is mine and I stand by it as of what I have seen so far in TV Chosun drama “Babel 바벨”. My view could change when I watch later episodes!
Call me mother hen looking out for her chick, Park Sihoo-ssi’s Cha Woohyuk, in TV Chosun drama “Babel 바벨”. Yes, no doubt he is a grown man of 38 (age of Cha Woohyuk) and has struck out without his birth parents since he became an orphan at seven and has risen in the world to become a public prosecutor. So, he should be world-worthy and be able to take care of himself.
But, mother hen, or more like big sister, still worry that this man, whose focus has been on revenge all his life and oblivious to everything else, he just might be outsmarted by a smart woman!
Can the real Han Jungwon please rise?
Han Jungwon, ex-top actress and chaebol wife. I can’t make out the real her! On the surface, she appears a sad soul, abused by her scumbag of a dead husband and having to live a lifestyle that is regimented and restricted with her family of marriage. Yet, I feel there is something not quite right about her, that some things just don’t add up and that she isn’t what she appears to be. Is she taking Cha Woohyuk for a ride is question that keeps on popping into my mind? She is after all a top actress and can credibly carry off whatever she wants to portray.

The first puzzling thing for me is that seven years ago, the Han Jungwon then had a fiery and independent streak. As a top star, she should also be financially independent. She seemed to take the lead on things. She was the one who initiated sneaking out from the broadcasting event with a man she has just met and know nothing about. Drinking, eating, going to the gaming arcade late into the night and ending up kissing. Pretty forward woman in my view.

Not only that, she is one who would stand up for her right as she did when paparazzi Cha Woohyuk wrote a bogus report about her and Tae Minho. Oblivious to the advice of her agent, she marched straight to the newspaper to demand recourse!
Yet, when she found out her husband having an affair with his sister-in-law and that he was a persistent abuser and resorting to domestic violence, she did nothing but bore the abuse and became the timid wife? Hmmm…she could have put in divorce papers and walked off, money being no object and no reputation damage except for his? Where is that fiery woman?
Look at how she stood up to her mother-in-law after her husband’s death? Did she appear a mouse to you?
Carrying on an affair for about a year now
And if she were the timid wife, would she even dare to have an affair with another man? But she did, not just once but carried on for about a year now. What is her intent? Is it honorable love with Cha Woohyuk or is it just a fling or just someone she goes to for solace whenever her husband acted vicious? Or someone to assist her with her own revenge or whatever she intended?
She considered Cha Woohyuk to be responsible for her disastrous marriage to Tae Minho and all her sufferings after marriage as he had written that scandalous news report. Like him, I question the motives in her action in marrying him. She certainly didn’t have to marry Tae Minho. She could have sued Cha Woohyuk and sought justice. So by her own action, she had no one to blame. Nevertheless, she threw the accusation at him, feeding him a big dose of guilt!
Did she kill her husband?
It had been deduced by forensic that the person who struck the lethal clean blow to Tae Minho is a right hander. Han Jungwon is supposedly a left hander, so that ruled her out as murderer. But is she really a left hander? She ate ramen holding chopsticks and played amusement games with her right hand. So what does that say about her? Ok, so she can be ambidextrous, but that also means she can be a murder suspect, right?
She has not been completely honest. She lied during the police interrogation about her whereabouts between 2 – 4 am in the morning, saying she was home. In reality, she was walking into the Chairman office of Geosan to meet her husband at 2 am and then he attacked her. And of course, the question on all our minds is what happened when her husband attacked her? Did she manage to grab the letter opener and drive it into his heart? How did she leave the office and the building? Did anyone see her? After she left the building, where did she go when she only got home at 4 am? Some might say she lied to protect Cha Woohyuk as she was with him then. Sorry ladies, I disagree. He was not with her between 2 -4 am which was the time the murder occurred. Their liaison happened before then, so he can’t be her alibi.

And what about the baby? Whose is it? She is three months pregnant. She must have known of her pregnancy even before she saw the gynecologist but she kept mum. Nothing to her husband or to Cha Woohyuk. Why so? And the smile on her face when she was told the baby was healthy? What does that mean? Was it happiness or was it just cynicism? She should know who the father is. What did she intend to do? Tell Cha Woohyuk the truth, pass off the baby as his or pass it off as Tae Minho’s? Did she expect Cha Woohyuk to meekly accept this baby and that with it in toll, they live happily ever after? Or will the baby be a contender to the vast fortune of the Tae chaebol?
Questions, questions, questions, I have and plenty! Can the real Han Jungwon please rise? We all want to know who she is. Good or bad, whatever!

这篇文章应该有得争论，会有许多不同的观点……观看朝鲜电视TV Chosun 的电视剧“通天塔（哑铃）Babel 바벨”到目前为止，这是我个人的立场！
叫我母鸡维护着自己的小鸡仔施厚君在剧中饰演的车宇赫。是的，他是一个38岁（车宇赫的年龄）的成年男子，自从七岁成为了孤儿，并经过努力，成为了检察官，所以他应该是非常懂得世界趋势，能够好好照顾自己。
但是，母鸡，或更像大姐姐的我，仍然担心这位男生，因为一生以来他的重点一直放在复仇上，对其他可能都一无所知。被一个聪明的女人给骗了也可能不晓得！

韩贞媛，前顶级女演员和财阀妻子。我无法弄清楚真实的她！从表面上看，她似乎是一个悲伤的灵魂，被死去，卑鄙小人丈夫所滥用，在生活中还要受其婚姻家族的制约和限制。然而，我觉得她在某些地方并非完全清白，有些事情合不上。我脑海里一直在想着，她可否在利用车宇赫？她毕竟是一位顶级女演员，可以随心所欲，非常逼真地演出她想要描绘的人格和事情。
对我来说，第一个令人费解的事情是七年前的韩贞媛是个热血独立的女性。作为一名顶级明星，她也应该在经济上独立，不需要依靠别人。特别主动大胆的她，跟刚认识，一无所知的男人从广播电台活动中偷偷溜出去，深夜里去喝酒，吃饭，玩游戏，告别时还接吻。在我眼里，她是个相当向外大胆的女人。

不仅如此，当狗仔队的记者车宇赫写了一篇关于她和泰民浩的虚假报道时，她不顾经纪人的劝告，直接冲往报社投诉！
然而，当她发现丈夫与嫂子偷情和他是一个家暴施虐者时，除了忍受虐待，成为胆小的妻子之外，她没有任何的举动。嗯…她是可以离婚，离开这段不愉快的婚姻和家庭。钱和名誉都应该无受损，受到损失的应该是她丈夫。但那火热的女人在哪了？
还有，有没有看到她丈夫去世后，她如何对抗婆婆？当时，她看起来想只害怕的老鼠吗？

如果她是胆小的妻子，她会敢与另一个男人发生暧昧关系？但她的确有外遇，偷情了，不只是一次，而是持续了一年的婚外情。她的意图是什么？对车宇赫的是真心的爱情，还是只把他当为一个给她解闷的男人，或当丈夫有恶毒行为，可以去寻求慰借的男人？或者可以利用，帮她复仇的人？
因为车宇赫写了那篇可耻的新闻报道，招来给她的是和泰民浩的一段痛苦的婚姻，毁灭了她的人生，所以他有责任。像车宇赫一样，我认为她不需要和泰民浩结婚，可以起诉车宇赫并寻求正义。但她没有，所以质疑她嫁给泰民浩的动机。她的痛苦是自己的行动所造成的，不能责备任何人。然而，她向车宇赫提出指控，给他带来了很大的负罪感！

孩子呢？是谁的？她怀孕三个月了。还没看妇科医生之前，应该已经知道自己怀孕了，但她一直保持沉默，不告诉丈夫也不告诉车宇赫。为什么呢？当她被告知婴儿健康时，她脸上的笑容是什么意思？是幸福还是愤世嫉俗？她应该知道孩子的父亲是谁。她打算怎么做？告诉车宇赫真相，将她的孩子当他的或将其作为泰民浩的？她是否期望车宇赫温顺地接受这个婴儿，并从此一起过幸福的生活？或者孩子会成为泰家族巨额财富的竞争者？
问题，问题，问题，我有很多问题！请真正的韩贞媛站出来！我们都想知道她究竟是谁。无论如何，好或坏！

Ok, this topic, holds as much interest and curiosity in my thirst and hunger to understand more about CWH, what else makes CWH tick, other than the synopsis of the script that CWH is a fiery temperamental prosecutor who wants revenge, to the extend at he could fumble til he compromised situations like turned off the camera at his interogation with SooHoo. Nance, all your guesses about Han Jungwon can be spot on in a story like Babel, at the moment, until more are revealed, it is to me “Anything Goes” in respect of those roles that carry more mystery, as in Mrs Tae, and this young duaghter in law of Mrs Tae, both Mrs Tae. In the words of the eldest daughter in law, the petite framed Mrs Tae told CWH, her brother in law is not a good man, while his wife is also not a good woman. As I have commented, thus far, the only transparent character is the eldest son. As he said when he was in the swimming pool, ” Hypocrites” (plural, was the subtitle). To me, everyone, so far, in Babel, is as he called out, lying turd. The two who are no doubt also not a saint, but revealing more of their true colours are the eldest son and his wife. Even eldest daughter we wait to see which way she may swing when she realises her heart desires is not as she wished. Nevertheless, there are a few scenes I like to highlight about Han Jungwon. While we pondered over why she smiled when she heard her baby is healthy, I also pondered why she cried alone after the ultrasound after she met with CWH, in her car. That crying in desperation and unhappiness all shown on her face when she sat alone on her driver seat does not portray that she is secretly happy with her own agenda. The scene where she stood high up in the balcony watching CWH leaving the Spanish cafe, but didn’t want him to see that she was watching him, and when she thought of what he said that his parents ought to have been pleased having “met her” she touched her stomach, again her face is hard to guess what’s in her head. My gut feel of that scene is like she thinks she doesn’t deserve what CWH’s said about his parents would have been happy to meet her, in that she is carrying someone else’s baby. She is not proud to get that statement of inclusion by CWH. She certainly was watching CWH walking out with affectionate emotion, does not look to me like that is a scheming cunning ulterior agenda. The question why such a confident forceful forefront lady leading in her prime limelight acting days would become such submissive for 7 years as a tortured wife, or more so, why would she even married such a scumbag…..so far…..the background scene of that Tae’s family dinner table discussion of when to have baby followed by the couple in their bedroom where it was only then she came to learn her husband is an illegitimate son and she hugged him….this background scene perhaps explains she did marry the husband out of her illusion of love for him to start with. It’s only later when illusion is shattered that she started to lay blame on that article. That she even considered having a baby several years back, for the man she married. How did she mellow her strong personality to become submissive, that’s the curious part as raised by Nance. However not until more are revealed I haven’t formed the gut feel that she is now in possession of some highly secretive agenda. At least til now Babel hasn’t cast any clue. A person could suppress her personality when she is not clear where her direction in life, especially having married into such a giant pressured family. The father in law seems to have favoured her husband, and the husband’s sister has not been not nice to her, such could be the straws she cling on while deciding what’s next, in the mean time, as we saw in the beginning, she had a role, as her father in law said to her, aren’t you happy as a president wife (something along that line), so there was a role, life though miserable by the beating by the husband, it has yet to reach rock bottom perhaps that’s her thinking then. She did come to ask for divorce (as we saw just before the murder) which the moment the hb mentioned it, she quickly turned her car the opposite direction in the middle of the night, that my interpretation is she was rather keen to get divorced, finally, after the rigmoroles in her marriage., divorce also perhaps also came to her mind and heart in the last year after her affair with CWH. Before that, I get the sense that she is of half symphaty half loved her husband, as she said to her Mother in law after her husband died that “since when have you ever treated me and my husband as part of the family”, this sentence gives me a feeling that in some way, she has tried to be the one for the husband in a family where allies are formed, regardless of how his behaviour degressing over the years. So we watch on to see what Babel wants to cast Han Jungwon as, Anything Goes up to this point. I am more curious HOW and WHEN she and CWH started their relationship or affair. The scene where she rang to buy him (was it lunch or dinner now I forgot) while she was vaccuming hb’s office, but in the end she ended up drunk in some lounge, I thought was that their 1st kiss? But if that’s the 1st time they crossed the line, how did the waiter at that lounge come to ring CWH? It looks to me the waiter already had prior experience of ringing CWH when this lady customer is drunk….so there must be another earlier scene before that kiss? Many more jigsaw puzzles to be unveiled by TV Chosun.
On the point of when she found out the affair between her hb and her sister in law, why she hasn’t acted on it, is the same curiousity in my head why the eldest son too hasn’t acted on it for that long, considered he is a more straight forward wealking, the least he could gain brownie points is to show to his father who always seem to dislike him over his younger brother. That might mean his own standing can be rocked if his rich wife is a factor of his social standing. It seems to me Han Jungwon only found out this affair about a year ago ie when she started her affair with CWH, whereas this eldest brother knew it 7 years ago on their wedding…..hmmm…..I can only say both are so scared of the consequences of such scandal and have not reached a state of mind of what to do with it, yet.
Fine and rich analyzes, my dear ladies! And you pinpointed interesting new aspects of the story that will surely have a response from the screenwriter.
Who killed Tae Min Ho? There are so many who wanted his death and who seemed to have all met at 2 o’clock in the night in his office: his wife, his brother, even prosecutor Cha Woo Hyuk, who chased Han Jung Won ( Did he come into the building?), one of the „dogs” of mother Tae and the true killer. There may be other suspects. Just like in a novel by Agatha Cristie.
Han Jung Won and her husband Tae Min Ho seem to have married in love and not forced by circumstances. They had a normal and tender marriage relationship at first. Up to a point. What could have happened so that the loving husband would become a villain and even want his wife’s death, as he thought after Cha Woo Hyuk saved her from that prisoner. The sister in law, that nasty nymphomaniac fox, certainly had a very negative influence on TMH’s already evil nature.
As for that passionate and absolutely sensational kiss, I really think it was the first. After the incident at the prosecutor’s office, HJW, in the hospital, invited him to eat together, to thank him. He came for dinner, she did not. She had discovered the stick and was abused by her husband. She was actually there, but she did not get out of the car. CWH saw it, but did not interact with her, probably thinking it was just a caprice on her part, that date.
CWH was called by the waiter because his phone number appeared on her agenda as the last one she had spoken to. Her response “it seem to you that I am happy?” seems to be a continuation of the dialogue between them before she is attacked by that detainee, her status now being the proof of her unhappiness. And CWH reacted absolutely bewitched by her tragic beauty, as did the Charming Prince at her first encounter with the sleeping Snow White. And then, what a totally hot, emotional, memorable kiss!
Brilliant brilliant Dear Daniela Maria Miricescu, I think I agree that kiss while she was asleep in the lounge is their very 1st, as you explained the waiter called the most recent contact number on her phone, yes, clever waiter 🙂 My gut feel when seeing that scene was that’s it, that’s the starting, but then I wasn’t sure how to explain that CWH being a stranger before to a rich wife and probably she is in some lounge that she was more familiar with I thought the waiter would know her background. But now thinking further of this scene, the waiter didn’t grant special favours to extend the room availability until CWH paid for more time. So that premise wouldn’t be a place that she had previously frequented.
At this juncture, it seems to me HanJW killed her husband, that is before Babel revealed more behind the scene. Based on the few things Babel has shown. Her right hand was about to reach that paper knife is the last of that rape scene. As Nance said, she can do so much with her right hand, she is not confined to left hand only. I wonder if she realised she exposed herself in front of her lover prosecutor that she is not a left hander confine. Professional killer sent by Mrs Tae would have used own weapon, as the investigator team was saying which professional killer don’t use own weapon. Eldest son said to his mum he didn’t kill the brother (that sentence to me sounded his honest truth). The foxy sister in law may have a reason to kill her brother in law but her height is a bit petite to have forceful stab to that part of the body. The last person I would suspect killed TMH is CWH, I definitely rule CWH totally out of suspect.
I tried many ways to turn my watch to see if 4am can be wrongly viewed when the watch is upside down let’s say the foxy sister in law was so drunk that she couldn’t read her watch well. No matter how, 4am is 4 am, it can’t be any other time between midnight to dawn, so that scene of showing us when she looked at her watch that says 4 am, it is 4 am. Oh yeah, there is something else I want to say, Butler Yang, I am surprised his standard of diligence and attention to detail is so lacking and he can be a butler, how can you walked off half way burning clothes and shoes. When your master asked you to go burn those expensive clothings anyone would know those are highly important evidence to be destroyed, and you walked off leaving the burning gear and unburnt shoes? Or was that scene just dreamt up by prosecutor CWH? Meaning in reality Butler Yang can’t be so careless?
nymphomaniac fox 🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏 the first time I come upon this word. Bravo! Not sure the excessive sexual desire is only hers or also that younger brother in law of hers, mutual trait is what I think. Having a hb who would not dare to smile until his mother said “ok now you smile, not ok, now you shut up”. This is one of the clue why the fox is a nymphomaniac fox. This nymphomaniac fox had no idea that her hb knew of her secret until she saw the investigation team uncovered that USB hidden by her hb. I like that scene where she rushed into TMH and HanJW’s room frantically looking for the USB. Her that dress again is so nicely hanging on her proportionate sexy frame. My take is the evilish brother in law had secretly filmed their act as a threat towards her, she is not in possession of that USB, she is under threat, so whether it is entirely her being the nymphomaniac fox, or she too could be a victim in the war between the brothers, as she told her sister in law when she was reprimanded for drinking in the early hours her reply being sober is no way to live in this house. And she gave it to her sister in law that at least I am here inside this house, withstanding all these shits, whereas you chose to move out and be removed from these shits. I like her sharpness and I like her sacarcism. I especially like her clever words in getting her MIL to go retrieve the USB. Quite a smart fox who knows the little bargaining advantage here and there. That 1st real action scene from her a full bucket of icy cold water to wake the hb up, What a superb scene, makes viewers like me completely satisfied watching the impact of that scene. Go nymphomaniac fox ! Go! LOL

Chai Hua Loke But these are useless, good for nothing hired people who get paid and can’t accomplish anything well! This would have been the reaction of the snotty Mrs Tae. Remember she admonished the head of the legal team who could not stop Tae Suho from his outburst when he was challenged by Cha Woohyuk in the interrogation room?
Chai Hua Loke Ah…but there are so many possibilities on who did it! Tae Minho is certainly no saint as his eldest brother said, he is the devil! And even Cha Woohyuk has a motive for killing him, if he had entered the building when he followed Han Jungwon. He could have killed him for raping or attempting to rape her. So he is not scotfree as yet!

Maybe she was blackmailed, but that mischievous sexi fox liked the posture she was in, and she did not hesitate to tease the deceived wife, leaving an earring in the bedroom every time. But the wife was not intimidated, responding elegantly that she knows of that relationship: she gave her the box in which she had gathered all those earrings.

Daniela Maria Miricescu Now I have watched episode 6 about the 2 sister in law’s silent communication via the earings and the box. How brilliant a potrayal of the silent exchange between 2 women who need to keep their face straight standing next to each other in the morning bidding goodbye to the men leaving the house to work. When I heard Nance said expect the top class bitch from the nymphomaniac fox, I was expecting much more than what I just viewed on episode 6. The fox is after all just an ordinary fox, nothing too bitchy about her. In the 1st place, she also joined the Tae with no knowledge of some facts which when she came to face with it that seriously depressed her. Next she got seduced by her brother in law before his wedding. In her heart, she truly believed he loved her before his marriage which he claimed was a disguise to show he wasn’t interested in family fortune. Until the day she learnt the so called only one he loved was none other than her shares of Geosan. In a way, at least she would not act like a total angel to this newly married sister in law, by leaving her earing means she tried to let this bride learnt about her delusionary marriage of love. Meanwhile Han Jungwon is also superb in her cool, the box of returned jewelry is saying “look, this is nothing surprising to me. I have had far more surprises from my husband. Thank you for your contribution/efforts in keeping me informed.” Bravo Bravo execution of script and logic. Well Done Babel. But top class bitch? not yet. Need more spice hahahaha. Even poor old Mrs Tae who kept thinking she has upper hand in everything or that she is the top bitch in Babel, but so far it has looked to me she failed in almost everything. I especially like how CWH answered her that he does not look from his position, he looks at something much larger than just his own position. I clapped my hand so loud for that strong backhand return serve, by none other than our very “hero” CWH. “hero” in Babel needs ” ” for the time being as you know what I mean.
Kudos for so many thought provoking comments, every of them well analysed and thought out in relation to the views and speculations surrounding the mystery and suspense offered by BABEL! Goes to show the strong interest which is being generated by an intriguing and absorbing crime drama like BABEL. Reminds me of Agatha Christie’s famous and long running stage play “The Mouse Trap”! Hence it will serve me well to find the time and pleasure of deciphering and digesting them all for my satisfaction….
Nance and Chai Hua , reading your thorough , keen analysis of who is the real Han Jungwon. where I’ve found some questions I’ve asked myself too about her , I’ve remembered the title of a good movie:”Who’s affraid of Virginia Wolf?” . So, should we be afraid too of Han Jungwon? Her story is so rich, intricate and mysterious that makes us think that Prosecutor Cha Woo Hyuk must discover who is the real Han Jungwon, whom he loves so much. “The truth is rarely pure, and never simple”[Oscar Wilde]. Is it so difficult for Prosecutor Cha Woo Hyuk to uncover the real truth about her, so that later on he should not be dissapointed that the truth about her has proven false? I want happiness ,for Prosecutor CWH, and he deserves it, with the woman he loves. A woman of integrity, honesty, honor , uprightness. That’s why I’m so attracted by this drama, that makes me wait with eagerness each episode. Tonight let’s watch , all of us, episode 6 and raise the rating too.
“A woman of integrity, honesty, honor , uprightness.” is who we want CWH to end up with. I ponder upon Babel whether this script will dwell to promote the good humanity values. I do hope so. Usually in murder and mystery stories, they tend to put in more efforts to expose the darker side of human tendencies than to give emphasis to promote good humanity values. As CWH charged in rage to Soo Ho after he viewed the USB, said what sort of humans are you lot? and I really impressed by Soo Ho’s superb acting in delivering that light statement of ah, that, I tried to hide it very well…..the way he said it makes me feel that was something hidden so very deep and long ago like it is something already wiped clean off this earth, he wasn’t stirred much upheaval emotion when told on his face that scandal is now exposed. Well, there are so much more darker and deeper secrets to be galored in front of our eyes as the story gets deeper. So we will see towards the end, which philosophy Babel has adopted, balance of the dark and the bright side of humanity, or is it one with more weight skewed towards the dark side. We haven’t got to Mrs Tae’s story yet, so who is Han Jungwon, perhaps viewers need extra patience to get to see. Sit Back, Relax, and Enjoy watching Babel. I like comedy, I like murder mystery. The 2 types of drama that I enjoy. Thanks to PSH for taking up this role. Bravo!
