In TV Chosun’s weekend drama “Babel 바벨”, Tae Yura had everything going for her. Wealth, career success, power. But there is something that had remained elusive. And that’s love. And it hurts!
Twice in her life, she has been bitten by love.
First time, she got married, her husband was constantly mistreated and ridiculed by her father, possibly also her mother. He reached his limit such that each time he looked at her, he was reminded of her father. And he gave her the ultimatum. Him or her father. She chose her father.
Second time round, I believe she fell deeper in love and this time it hurts like hell for her. Loving in silent, not uttering a word to him, she lost him before she could even tell him she cared.

But what fiery attack when he got into the thick of action
Tae Yura felt the first stirring of emotion for Cha Woohyuk when they pitted against each other in court. This sleeping prosecutor caught her attention when she walked into the court room. She thought she could easily win the case. But he was more then meets the eye! He won! And he taught her a lesson not to be complacent and not to look just on the surface to pass judgement as things might not be as they seemed. Since then she had grown to respect this man and they worked well together. And in the process, she fell in love!
She sung praises about him to her family, including to her father and elder brother. And when she found out her mother had a hired hand on his tail to knock him off, she frantically and successfully saved him from being slaughtered like a chicken. There is nothing she won’t do to save his neck!
They worked well together professionally
But her heart broke when she discovered another woman in his life, none other than her sister-in-law, Han Jungwon! Now, that hurts, big time!
She is a woman scorned. Will she let loose her wrath at the woman who captured his heart or to the both of them? We will know soon enough!

If I were prosecutor CWH, I wouldn’t be caught so surprised when Tae Yura walked in together with Han Jungwon. Hey, hospital is a public place, if Han Jungwon would just come and go without disguise or only sneaking in when there is not one soul in the hospital, what are the chances that ANYONE would see that Han Jungwon going to see him in his hospital bed?
I think it was more guilt than surprise. Look at his expressions! Caught and he doesn’t know where to look! Kekeke! 🤣🤣🤣

And talking about firey, I liked the scene where he smashed the USB, at that very moment, his firery dragon Instagram posting came to my mind. But I like to say something about that scene too, the nymphomaniac fox is quite gullible to believe by telling her “truth” she can have the USB. Ever heard of backups or copies? CWH could have duplicated 10,000 copies before offering that USB to her.
Why do you think he smashed the USB? So many people have so many views!
Park Sihoo-ssi 박시후-씨 朴施厚君 ah….let me start to think…hmm…. that cigar shape USB when he took it out in the open when he sat in the cafe I was thinking oh no, public place again, whoever tailing you will see…. Anyway, my gut feel is just his temper firing up just as the character he is. Not because he didn’t want her to have it. As I said, after all he could have duplicated 10,000 copies if he wanted to have it still in his possession. Moreover letting the fox thinks she has the USB back safely by then it’s no longer much leverage on anyone anymore, other than the old sly fox MIL, after TMH died, Suho and Jungon both spouses have seen the video or both knew very well of such bedscene. And the nymphomanic fox has traded her side of the stories. So my take is his anger over the ugliness of the chaebol the drove him to smash the ashtray which indirectly destroyed the USB coupled with the spill of the white wine to drown the cigar USB.
Chai Hua and Nance , in my opinion he smashed the USB out of disgust, out of repulsion, out of repugnance for what he saw on it , and for the explanations of “the nymphomanic”, as Dana called her, and I’d add “the devilish woman” , Na Hwho thought she could revenge on Jung Won, because :”Min Ho told me he’ll only love me forever. I want to add one more viewpoint I think other than what you have stated, he was also furious with himself because he didn’t see it, blinded he was. Na Yeungeun jotted him awake. In the courtroom, I think Yu Ra was first surprised by the unexpected eloquence of the young sleeping prosecutor, then she was angry with herself because she underestimated her opponent due to appearances. But the admiration for him began when Cha Woo Hyuk, in the parking lot, gave her a document on the process, to help lawyer Tae Yu Ra defend her client, who was indicted for killing her abusively husband. That document was a list of the phone numbers of some people who had a wife’s sexual services, intermediate by her husband. Why did he give her the document that incriminated the murdered husband? Because, says CWH, sins have to be paid even after death. She was impressed by the gesture and the non-conformist way in which he approaches and solves the cases. Over time, from growing professional admiration to deeper feelings, it was just one step. What will Yura do next? She will surely look for her brother’s murderer in person of Han Jung Won. But if she finds she is innocent? Her good and fair nature will tell the word, and love will make her act in order to save CWH at all costs, even with the price of never having his love.
Wonderful analysis and spot on words about this silent building up of admiration to the extend of outright admission that CWH is the man she loves, to a mother figure who she knows very well all care must be exercised when it comes to dealings with her mother. Indeed she possesses good and fair nature nevertheless human beings have those unexpected tendencies so I just have no idea which way she will resort to. She was protective of all in her family including Han Jungwon but suddenly now she begins to bite on Han Jungwon things she never suspected is now a changed perspective the moment she learnt HJW is her love competitor. But in a good drama, it takes the good and the bad to make things happened and to conclude, and each and everyone of them can have those moments of changed personality especially in murder mysteries. It’s open canvas for the creative juices of the scriptwriter and the director to craft the development, then our fine actors do their part for our enjoyment. Babel has so far not disappointed many of us.
Many would agree that “Love is a many splendored thing” ( nature’s way of giving a reason to be living … two lovers kissed and the world stood still – these are extracted from the lyrics of the song with the same title by Andy Williams ); but with love, there’s pain too and it would hurt real bad when love is rejected, unrequited. In the case of Tae Yura, it would seem her single sided love for Cha Woohyuk is not even a case of unrequited love, right? For at this stage he doesn’t even know her feelings for him. It will be interesting to know how the story will develop when he finds out. Will it still be unrequited love and if yes, will Tae Yura turn vicious? I do like Tae Yura strong character and think at the end of it all she will not be a disappointment.
Can’t even call this one sided love as unrequited, right? Cha Woohyuk doesn’t even know….
