So intense was Episode 8! And the actors, so wonderful! Unlike Episode 7, which was a little “light” and rated better. Once again, it turns out that my opinion does not match that of Korean viewers. Still, Episode 8 had an increase of 0,1% compared to the last episode broadcast last saturday. So we could expect the episode of tonight to be at least as last week’s sunday rating (3,2%).
Not satisfied for the rating,Sorry!
I am the last with any knowledge to make comment about rating, however, perhaps it is a cable tv or paid channel that’s the reason for the resulting rating. Nance, @Parksihoo-ssi ,when you can, could you clarify again, how can foreign viewership be counted in Babel’s rating? Must we be paying some subscription to TV Chosun before our viewing is counted?
Chai Hua Loke The foreign viewership will not be counted in those ratings. Unfortunately, only Korean viewers can attend this rating. The process of collecting and delivering audience data is complex, being automated, by a specialized company (by a device installed on TVs) and based on the opinion of a sample of viewers established on statistical principles, considered representative at the level national (about 1500-2000 households). A special appliance is installed on the television in households and has a remote control that each of the members is assigned with their names. When one of the family members walks into the room where the TV is located, he must press the button corresponding to his name. At the same time, every time he leaves the room, he must press the button. If the study family leaves the TV, but it remains on, there is a special button that must be pressed – “No viewer”.
Daniela Maria Miricescu Thanks Daniela this is very interesting to learn. Thanks again
Stefania Lupu yes, not satisfied until it hurts! BABEL is simply awesome. Deserves a rating between 5 to 7!
Love mysteries. ‘Fighting.’

Daniela Maria Miricescu Now that we are on Mon, 25/2 we got to know Episode 9’s rating at 3.4 fared slightly better than last Sun’s of 3.2. And it comes across there’s a consistent trend that Sunday’s have always achieved higher ratings than Saturday’s. But overall these national ratings garnered by BABEL todate really don’t do justice at all to such an awesome K drama. Even if we look at it unbiasedly and don’t take into consideration the PSH factor, BABEL is definitely a top quality crime mystery drama that is so watch worthy. Executed to perfection from so many aspects by the PD and production team – the impeccable acting performance of a truly experienced and talented cast, amazing dialogues where the words used are always just apt and sufficient, the appropriately selected background music ( and not forgetting the 2 hauntingly beautiful OSTs ) which sets the pace and mood for the scenes to come, etc etc. So it’s my sincere hope that national viewers start to give more recognition to a brilliant K Drama currently being broadcasted over TV Chosun. Rarely do we find a gem as such amongst K dramas. Speaking from my heart.
Dorothy Ooi Indeed, the trend is beginning to rise at nationwide (in the metropolitan area not yet, although last Sunday Babel ranked first in viewers’ preferences (as seen in Nance’s report).
