Though the restriction was lowered to viewers up to 15 years old, the rating for episode 7 was raised to 3.2%. It’s good but it deserves a higher rating. The subject becomes more and more interesting and exciting. Let’s hope a better rating for the following episodes.
Stefania Lupu Rating will go higher if more national viewers know how to make a turning point and learn to be more discerning to choose a good strong solid drama like BABEL! Exciting and thrilling and presented in such a refreshing stylish manner. Kudos to the production director and strong experienced cast with PSH in the male lead, mesmerising lucky viewers once again with his sheer acting talent and impeccable screen presence!❤️

I like this funny kissing approach in the video posted on YouTube by TVChosun on February 13, 2019. But I don’t understand why YouTube has posted this message: “Video restricted by age (based on Community Guidelines)” for this one. I have seen for comparison other similar videos that are more daring about nudity and love relation, but they don’t have this alert. Why? And I am still contraried by that label “19”. For me, this restriction is only to justify the late hour of broadcast. There are dramas that deal with the subject of crime (serial kilers), for example, in a violent and atrocious way that I can hardly watch, but it’s appreciate for “15”. Is domestic violence or adultery much more blamed than murder? Moreover, the scene in which CWH and HJW are in bed – apart from being so well-done that you can feel the emotion passing through the screen – is nothing more spicy than others in series that are broadcast at high audience hours, and yet it was cut at resume the episode on TVChosun. Now that the restriction has dropped to “15”, should we expect to change the broadcasting time? That would be good in the benefit of viewers and for a higher rating.
Yes Dana. You are right , that there more atrocious scenes in other K. dramas, than in “Babel”. Except the fight between Prosecutor Cha and Rick’s kidnapper , there are some normal, inoffensive kisses And I remember the same scene, in bed, in the movie “Scent” without being restricted for the viewers under 19. Very complicated to understand. Is this a matter of mindset we, Europeans, can’t understand?
The Korean viewer restriction is stricter than other parts of the world and they categorise what falls into 15 and 19. So what we see elsewhere which seems so common can be restricted here. But having said that, the PD did point out why they chose the 19 restricted for episodes 1 – 5 (or was it 4?). This would allow them more freedom of expression of what the real world would be like…and I believe they have done it so well and so artistically. But of course, as you said, what we have seen could have passed an even lower restriction. There are more revealing violent, foul language and sexual content out there even for Korean productions that what we have seen in “Babel”. Maybe they have been overly cautious. And yes, an earlier time slot would be better…then I don’t have to be slogging away till the wee hours of the morning to get out those articles on time the next day!
