It has been a long, long, long while since I watched a drama. Any drama, even a Park Sihoo-ssi drama! Not because I don’t want to watch any but simply because I haven’t had much time to do much, least of all having leisurely time to be a couch potato!
But I needed some drama therapy!
So I sneaked a little time in between work and writing for ParkSihooSsi.com last weekend to catch up on some Korean dramas. First stop was to check out what the current offers were. And I flipped from one synopsis to another to see if there were anything interesting. So many new titles…but alas, nothing really caught my eye. Much of the same old, same old Korean offerings.
I picked one that had supposedly taken the world by storm and sky rocketed the male and female leads to international fame. My second time in attempting to watch it so I thought, maybe since it has been a while since I last watched a Koran drama, I might find what so captivated so many people palatable. Sigh, again, it didn’t past muster! It couldn’t even get past half an episode! Crab! Was it the drama, the feeble attempt at acting or just me being jaded or disinterested?
My drama therapy finally came in the form of Park Sihoo-ssi’s “Family Honor”, even if I could only watch it for half an hour! Good therapy for sure to see Lee Kangsuk again in this family drama. I love the part of him as the newly married man acting like a kid vying for his wife’s attention! So refreshingly sweet even when I have watched Family Honor for I am sure over a hundred times!
Now, I am so looking forward to getting more drama therapy soon in Park Sihoo-ssi’s new family drama “My Golden Life”! Life is beginning to look interesting again!
Good therapy! Now back to work!

Esos ojos me!!!?
Rest be assured lots of serious works and efforts had been invested by PSH in delivering his seemingly light and easy newly married young husband vying for wife’s attention. Though we all know he has got that knack within him to be mischievious hence such a scene of a little kid husband shouldn’t be hard for him, still to deliver the perfect timing of a blink, a gesture here and there so that everything pans out and fall in place, that’s the difficulty of comedy. And I write with my head full of comedy on a Monday morning having been on a live stage comedy Murder at Checkmate Manor staged by our local Barossa players yesterday. I. Love. Drama. Just like you Nance, now and then we need drama to take our minds completely away from our reality. That’s the reason we are here. People in my circle here often asked why I seem not to be at every party that I get invited, as many would have known me by now, often they only see my husband attending all these parties but not me, so they asked me what do you do at home, well, I prefer my own time to watch more dramas, am I allowed? And Yes, can we imagine how MGL will be received by us his ardent fans? If you could watch Family Honour 100 times, then it’s nothing surprising that MGL can be watched 200 times, I reckon.
十分期待施厚的新劇集,他的作品真的會令人願意花時間一看再看。難道真的有一種治癒人心的魔力?這也太神奇了吧!施厚你選擇的,和演繹的,都太棒了!
On weekends, I also try this kind of TV therapy! In general, like the author, other people’s play does not have much detail to attract into mind, it is a dispensable rhythm! As the age grows, the view of drama is no longer the picture of Yan’s value! Chase, the influence of the Internet world, more willing to pay attention to, Shi Houjun’s drama a little more! Other people’s drama, steering ability, do not want to explore more, and their own, for Shi Houjun, always maintain a sight that love picture, just fine! The new play is looking forward to! Everyone, the real world, but also hope to grasp the sense of life! Whenever you are filled with the brilliance of love, heal yourself quickly!
awesome
What a sweet coincidence, Nance! I usually use Qeen of reverasls as “drama therapy”, but last week I started looking at Family Honor, again! And, indeed, nothing interesting yet in the world of Korean drama. Still little patience until the beginning of September ^^. I think I’ll look a little as well, at the dramas in which played PSH’s new partner, Shin Hye Sun.
Oh are you like me who usually watch QOR over and over and never ever get bored about it type of PSH fan?
Yes, Yeah, it’s just that kind of PSH fan.
As for me, I am eager to finish rewatching Perfect Neighbour – final episode tonight – so that I can move on to rewatch FH, now that the DVD set is back with me; it has been on loan to my brother and wife who gave an enthusiastic thumbs up in appreciation of an immensely well scripted well acted out family drama. I should be able to complete FH before MGL comes on … yes like many of you, I too find drama therapy is good way to enjoy a quiet evening at home away from noise and crowd. And I am not ashamed to reveal my bias – so far it’s only dramas starring PSH that appeal to my senses and meet my “high” standard! Glad you are checking out dramas which have featured Shin Hye Sun…as you ( and us ) eagerly await the start of MGL. From the interviews she gave, seems a nice actress. Aren’t you in one sense relieved it is no longer the actress you are not very fond of?
Dorothy, I don’t know if Dana is relieved with Shin Hye Sun, PSH’s copartner in “MGL”, If she had been Audrey Hepburn,!!!. But as you say, she seems a nice and young determined actress to surpass the difficult challenge as the lead woman actress in :MGL”, and promised to do her best to achieve all expectations . Although she has played in 9 dramas, 4 movies, been nominated .but without any award, I hope she will be able to cope with the high acting standard of the Hallyu Star, PSH. On the other hand , being next to him , she’ll get more experience, and of course she is the lucky beneficery ot their cooperation. And I also hope the drama to get a lot of success, and with a very wonderful couple, like in “Family Honor.”
Stefania Lupu unfortunately even if Daniela scouts high and low all over K entertainment she will never be able to find a K actress close to AUDREY Hepburn!
Yes, I want the best for PSH! I did researchers too, and I think it’s going to be a good encounter. I see at she, shining the rays of a little aura.^^
You’re trying me, Dorothy! Here’s what I found: ”Park Shin-hye chose Audrey as one of her most favorite actresses and set out to look like her this time. She was made up as Audrey Hepburn for a photo shoot with fashion magazine Marie Claire.” My opinion is that this actress does not look much like Audrey Hepburn, but rather Maria Callas. Still, the hypostases are successful because of the highly professional team Marie Claire.
Aha! I just remembered! I found someone who, I thinks, she’s very close to our diva: Kim Jung-Eun! (Lovers in Paris)
Ah saw the pic of KIM Jung – Eun! Good investigative work!
My dears, please, a little indulgence. I have to say one more thing: Chen Ran deserve to be in “Audrey Hepburn category”. She is so sweet! “For as long as I can remember I’ve loved to laugh,” Chen recalls, “I’m an optimistic person and my friends say that seeing me laugh lifts their spirits, so I hope to affect more people with my optimism.” [vantage-magazine.com]. That’s why I recommend you, warmly, the Scent therapy.
Daniela Maria Miricescu Sorry lah Daniela, I can’t agree that Chen Ran can ever be in Audrey Hepburn category, hahaha, sorry, but got to be true to my personal view.
Stefania Lupu and the ladies here talking about MGL lead lady actress, thank you for sharing your views and information. I being the disinterested in any other name other than PSH type of person, til now still haven’t registered the face or the name of his co- actors in MGL. In due course I am sure I will learn her casting name in MGL and able to comment with my own analysis. For now, my headspace is not yet ready to take her name or face in, hence not joining you all in debate of how suitable or how good the female lead is gonna to be. 🙂
Chai Hua Loke easy remember the name Shin Hye Sun!
Dorothy Ooi No lah, next I got to remember her casting name in MGL if not when I write my review I need her name in the drama in order to explain myself. Not breaking my rule that other than PSH, everyone else is Apa Nama Nya?
Chai Hua Loke apa u 😏 kekeke
Chai Hua Loke I am like you. And I admit I am bad. I am more interested in the characters in MGL the drama rather than who the actors and actresses are. I am only interested in one man and that’s it. The rest are just part of the drama so no interest in knowing who they are and what they did in the past. This was the same with PSH then, but he proved himself, and only then did I bother to find out more about him and the rest is history.
Parksihoossi.com there are far too many information that parade themselves in front of our eyes. We just want a simpler life among the complex enough days. If not because PSH has that extra bit of aura or magic that drove out that curiosity in me, i wouldn’t have learnt the PSH name either.
Nance and Chai Hua, I’m also interested in the characters in “MGL”, but as PSH plays in this drama , I’m also interested who is his copartner , if she is of the same artistic level as him, if she can cope with his high artistic standard, if she can play so well as to brng the drama to a real success. As Julia Roberts says, and I agree:” Making movies is not rocket science. It’s about relationships and communication, and strangers coming together to see if they can get along harmoniously, productively and creatively. That’s a challenge. When it works ,it’s fantastic and we lift you up.”
Park Sihoo-ssi 박시후 씨 no bad or good about this… we are just all individuals with different complexes, make up and preferences. But with one common factor – love Sihoo -ssi to bits 😍😛😝😜
Stefania Lupu Dear Stefania, I fully understand. Interest comes into play for sure when it is associated or relevant to our PSH. Unfortunately at this stage of Nance’s (if I may speak on her behalf) and my life, we are experiencing limited headspace while we juggle with the many things that need our attention and performance. That’s the reason we put the co actors as not as importantly to attract our attention.
Stefania Lupu same curiosity, same sentiment as you!
Thakns Chai Hua,I see.
Thanks Dorothy too. Our telepathy still works!
Stefania Lupu I was about to say that !
😘😘
Thanks Chai Hua Loke This is one aspect of why I don’t bother. The other reason being that as fans, we have no say on who his co-lead is going to be, we just have to take who the TV choose. So whether the actor or actress has done well or not, makes no difference. For me, it is much better to watch how he or she perform during the drama rather than base on the past. I have been disappointed before with CDDA. I had big expectations with his co-lead, read about her, and even attempted to watch her past drama that everyone raved about. She was a huge let-down eventually. So this time, and even during LH, I didn’t attempt again. But again, everyone is different. Whatever works 🙂
And for me too, Nance:” … to watch how he or she performs during the drama..” But I remember a well-known actor , who insisted of his desire to have a good copartner, who fits him very well, for the sake of the movie success. And that’s what I want for PSH.
Is the same subject as how much say or interest we can have when it comes to our children’s, our siblings or our great mate’s choice of partners. Of course we all like these other parties to fit our own checklist so to speak however in reality who are we to judge even before the journey. Same thing who are we to judge which actress will or will not pull it off well enough with PSH. There are moments in our own lives that our own performances could either surprised or disappointed our own selves simply at times things don’t turn out as we imagined them to be.
Ştefi, these are my thoughts too. It’s about the harmony that is created in the working team, it is like an orchestra.
Daniela Maria Miricescu: Agree! Discord, lack of screen chemistry, presence of prima donnas etc all can contribute to disharmony, affect performance and success or otherwise of a drama.
Chai Hua and Nance, I respect your point of view. Dana an Dorothy ,I do agree with you. And I love PSH!
Ştefi, you are like that wise judge, who he agrees with the accuser and also with the accused.
Or when two polemizes, the third, PSH, wins.😊
Daniela Maria Miricescu haha! That’s always the rule. PSH wins! All the time.
Park Sihoo-ssi 박시후 씨 Nance, although we have different opinions, I have to give you right. Actors can be good in a movie, or we don’t like they in an other (except our PSH, which has been brighter and brighter, in each of his roles). So we should have a little patience to give our opinion. But the curiosity is great, as well the impatience.^^
Daniela Maria Miricescu nothing else that keeps us alive other than pure curiosity. Is only because of curiosity we eagerly live for our next second. 😊
Dorothy Ooi discord disharmony lack of chemistry all can happen even when Prince Philip thought he did the right choice of picking Diana to be Charles ‘ wife. It is really not until the drama actions have taken place that we can tell. If I am not wrong TPM female lead looked down at our PSH at the start. But in the end she got herself a big surprise. So who is to predict at the start that the 2 TPM leads will have harmony on the set? I suspect they merely hope as long as their personal perceptions were not brought onto the set that’s all they dare hope for.
Chai Hua Loke ah we cannot dictate that’s for sure. But surely we are allowed to be curious and have hopes too….
Chai Hua Loke however need a fine balancing— as the saying goes, curiosity kills the cat 🐱
May I add my view that CDDA PSH alone injected all the incredible magic to make it a success. In my view there is no chemistry between the two of male female in CDDA. But is CDDA a success? Of course it is. Because of PSH. The more reason i just couldn’t care less about who is the female lead. As long as she is not vulture neck disguising as a woman, simply, I am not interested who plays PSH’s opposite. End of the day so many of PSH’s dramas the female lead other than TPM all the rest don’t really match to PSH’s standrard of beauty. But did I like the drama any less? Nope? I like his dramas as much as I could because of no. 1: the script no 2 :PSH.😊😊😉😉
Agree wholeheartedly Dorothy Ooi I already replied Daniela that curiosity is the only reason we live for our next second of time. Curiousity is my measurement of Bob ‘s quality of life to determine when is the right time to euthanize Bob. Despite his ability to get up to walk to eat and drink still we euthanized him the moment he showed no curiosity towards anything. Complete disinterested.
Chai Hua Loke This is about fragility, sweetness, gentleness, cuteness, about an optimistic smile that gives you a good mood. For me the most beautiful couple remains PSH-CR. I hope that you will still agree with me, just a little.
Daniela Maria Miricescu I think we can all have our opinions so differences are fine. Also culturally, there will be differences. Chen Ran might look good in the Western world but not necessarily in the Eastern world…
Daniela Maria Miricescu it is absolutely ok for your top pick to be PSH CR. My vote goes to TPM her looks to me is more compatible to PSH physically speaking. 😊
Watching the dramas , where PSH is acting , becomes a teraphy for most of us, as his dramas and especially the way he interprets his roles can help us change the way we think, feel, and ultimately, deal with our life’s ups and downs. And it’s due to PSH’s talent that has a positive effect on our life. And it’s due to PSH that has raised the standard for us to choose and watch a new good drama. I’ve tried, but I barely watched one or two recently , without PSH acting in one of them, or I watched one- two episodes , and then I quit it. Unfortunately! Either the actors were not convincing, or the subjects dind’t fit my expectations. That’s why I prefer to rewatch, and ejnoy PSH’s old dramas, as it happened with “Family Honor” that I finished two days ago. PSH’s realistic acting becomes evident, as his audience’s demand is to really believe what they are watching, to become a good teraphy for them ,to convince them of the veracity of the subject. And that’s because PSH imbues his characters with much of his own life and experiences, as he strives for the “believable truth” in his acting. The famous Russian theatre practitioner, outstanding character actor, director, Konstantin Stanislawski said :” Don’t worry about the flower, just water the roots.” Meaning :the techique, talent, helps the actor water his roots, and his flower will bloom with his magic! Park Si Hoo, do water your roots with your talent, and your flower, your success, will bloom with your magic!
Watching dramas can really be distracting when your brains can’t seem to be silenced. I experience this too. Not necessarily with PSH dramas only. However, once I know a storyline of a drama, with PSH or not, it doesn’t have the same effect on me. Then my brains can’t be silenced after all. Nevertheless, I started to re-watch “Family Honor”. I didn’t re-watch since the early days I discovered PSH. I didn’t like LKS at all, but I notice I am looking with different eyes now. Don’t know whether it is because I know PSH and his capabilities much better now, but I judge LKS differently. He is not the cold blooded businessman as he pretends to be at the start. The soft side I didn’t see then, I do see now. For if LKS really was that cold blooded, Ha Dan-ah would not be able to upset him at all with her behaviour towards him! Lee Kang Suk doesn’t have the life experience of the Baek Si Yoon character. After 6 six years LKS has succeeded to charm me. Even as the cold blooded business man!
Congratulations Wilma – you finally got charmed by PSH’s character in FH! It was an amazing transformation within those 50++ episodes from cold blooded cold hearted business swindler to a man who finally knows what is the real meaning of life when he became a man flushed with love….
Yes, I always liked the part when he changed because of love, Dorothy. However, this could not erase the bad impression I had from first part. In real office life I had met too many of those kind of characters! Maybe it’s because I’m getting older myself, I can see from different angle now!
Oh you mean that eye candy that so called had taken the world by storm? Nah! It didn’t appeal to me one bit and honestly even the critic in the local media commented it was far too boring and couldn’t figure out why it created so much sensation. One plus year on…. wonder how many would bother to rewatch it … with the storyline plus acting lame and weak. The same goes for those dramas with the new trend of time slips – so many are jumping on the bandwagon to produce this so called refreshing genre for fear the original Korean family drama flavour is losing its appeal to viewers who are looking to be thrilled by a new wave of excitement. I can assure you this theme has no lasting appeal. And in the end, the ones which will be perennial favourites amongst Korean dramas are the well tested original genres for which K entertainment is world renown. Aren’t we glad and thankful that at least 7 have PSH in the lead or usurped lead role ! Most treasured !
No idea which drama or eye candy you are talking about Dorothy, but I noticed every new drama seems to have the time slip theme. As soon as I read about that I skip immediately. Not interesting for me! However, it is acting on the changing interest of young Koreans. Last year I was told the young ones value the Korean traditions like Chuseok less and less…..
Dorothy Ooi What eye candy? Can’t even hold a candle to our very own eye candy here! The older one is like wine, grows better with age and can even look younger! Kekeke!
Park Sihoo-ssi 박시후 씨 you very bias lah (Manglish)…kekeke😆🤣😆
Dorothy Ooi I self admit biased Kekeke! 🙂
Wilma van Zwietering Dear Wilma, you look around and see which K actor has a neck long and dangling with a portruding Adam’s apple, holding a small head on a too broad a shoulder to match that smallish skull, which Chai Hua has nick named Vulture Neck, that’s the “eye candy” these ladies are talking about, who I cannot say his name here if not I can get sued. (wink)
Wilma van Zwietering on the same subject, Chai Hua actually created 2 very apt nick names for that “eye candy”, vulture neck as everyone can instantly get it in English imagination. The 2nd nickname is a type of Asian street food which is common in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong and in Cantonese “Ham Chin Peng”, which is a type of puffed pastry deep fried in oil, inside there’s some filling of black bean or red bean paste. I remember I described my this nick names to 2 other Taiwan fans in Miyazaki cafe (that same cafe where Knapavalley gave me her warm hug when we bid goodbye), I remember how the 2 Taiwanese fans laughed and concurred about my observations to come up with those nick names. No better description to match the roundish puffed up cheeks than our street food.
Thanks for your descriptions Chai Hua Loke. Still doesn’t light the bulb, but this kind of “eye candy” can’t excite me anyway. It’s the one I turn my eyes off immediately! 😕
No problem Wilma van Zwietering. One day you will see the bulb lights up. I am sure of your intuitive power.
