My first thought on waking up this morning ( moments ago ) was the rating! And then the next moment saw this title BREAKTHROUGH 30! This is fabulous breaking news!!!!!❤️❤️
シェアさせていただきます✨✨うれしい⤴️です
#朴施厚# #我黃金光輝的人生# 太好的消息了,讓我們繼續用心支持最愛的男神,希望收視節節上升,電視劇越來越受歡迎!
Great News !!! Congratulations KBS and Park Si Hoo !
As Dorothy says, my first care, early in the morning , was to know the rating after the episodes 7 and 8. And , as I’ve predicted , after watching them although without English sub. , the rating hit the best result till now. 30% is excellent , and this reveals the interest of the audience, in Korean and also over the world, for the subject, for the characters’ dramatic turns in their life, good or bad. This deserves a toast with a cup of champane for the actors ,for the whole crew. Congratulations!
YES! And the drama becomes more and more exciting, with an increasingly consistent presence of PSH. Next target: 40%?
Next target will definitely be 40% and we have to work hard to ensure it goes up! Up! Up! 🤝🤝🤝
We want ultimately 50%………..I am not greedy seriously. That’s what he deserves.
Very curious what was the overall rating for DOTS ( the eye candy drama that took the world by storm )? And in more recent years which K dramas had achieved overall 50% ratings?
Dorothy Ooi DOT broke 30 at Ep 9 and highest was 38.8%. Average rating was 28.6% (All based on AGB Nielsen and nationally). It would not be fair for comparison as it is a Wed/Thu drama and 16 ep (with additional 3 specials). Recent over 50 or close are: Dae Jung Gum (2004) 57.8%, Lovers in Paris (2004) 56.3% Jumong (period drama in 2007) 51.9%, Baker Kim Tak Gu (2010) at 49.3%, My name is Kim Sam Soon (2005) 49.1%, My Too Perfect Sons (2009) 48.6%; Sooyoung, My daughter (2013) 47.6%. Incidentally, Sooyoung, My daughter is Writer Su’s work.
Thank you Nance for these statistics. Put things into better perspective for me – one who has not held any interests into such statistics until now! Writer Su’s previous work at 47.6 % is impressive.
Dorothy Ooi That drama broke 30 at Ep 4!
Thanks heaps Nance! I have only seen Dai Cheong Kam and My Name is Kim Sam Soon of the list. Would you know what was QOR rating when it extended from original no. of episodes?
So only about 3 dramas broke the 50s rating
It will be more and more difficult to get 50% and above rating in today’s ( 2017) situation. Viewers’ profile changing and there are so many distractions to diversify and dilute interest! Now I recall PSH mentioning he was hoping TPM’s rating could reach high end of 20%. It seems even FH, QoR and Tpm didn’t reach 30%
Chai Hua Loke No, there were many more but not recent ones. In fact one actually hit 66%! But those were early 2000s and 1990s from I found.
Chai Hua Loke QOR not very high actually. Check it out…https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_of_Reversals#Ratings
Park Sihoo-ssi 박시후 씨 yeah those early years everyone follows cos so much less alternatives
Park Sihoo-ssi 박시후 씨 I see ! Average of 10.8%
Thanks Nance Phua. Yeah not very high.
Thanks Nance for the list of the best ratings of K. dramas. I’d like to mention that “Seoyoung, My Daughter” is the first K. drama I watched on KBS World, that had a great impact and determined me to continue watching other K. dramas, and finally to discover ParkSi Hoo’s dramas, By a happy coincidence, this drama that reached 47,6 % rating, had the same script writer as “My Golden Life”, and also the father in the first drama was played by Chun Ho-jin, the same actor who plays now again the father in “My Golden Life” .But if “My Golden Life” has reached over 30% rating, only after 8 episodes, Ithink after 50 episodes the rating will be a great success. To our delight and of course of Park SI Hoo’s .
Sincerely, I believe, MGL will be a runaway success.
Following these enthusiastic discussions triggered by Sunday’s MGL rating, I looked for TPM rating. My conclusion: rating is important, but it is not enough to appreciate a drama at the right value. The TPM is an example in this respect: the highest rating was the ep. 24: 25.8%; Average: 20.3% (Seoul National Capital Area). And yet TPM won the Asian Television Award; Seoul International Drama Awars; Baeksang Arts Awards; New York TV Festival. And I do not even say about the many nominations and the winning actors (Monte-Carlo Television Festival, Banff World Media Festival Canada). Details: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Princess%27_Man
So, dear sisters, enjoy first of all the wonderful MGL story, but without diminishing the importance of rating, which is the pulse of viewers watching live drama. And to hope for a fair appreciation and reward for the passionate work of the whole team.
Dana, you are right. Let’s enjoy watching “My Golden Life”, as many as possible, and by doing this to raise the rating as high as possible. As you say:next target 40%, at the end of this week.
